Hello C dory community,

I went tuna fishing on the tomcat for the first time and did well. The tuna were in close and there were lots of them. I went out of ilwaco and only 25 NM out we were into them. The bite lasted throughout most of the day and even without a fully functional live well we ended up with 30 tuna for the three of us the first time out and got 12 the next day. So a total of 42 tuna in a two day period. The were biting well on the troll. We commonly got doubles and had a triple at one time.
I am hooked!!

Can someone give me a tip as to where the best place on the hull to put an intake for the live well? Or install an external livewell pump?

I use a "Bait Bag" for live bait. Shown here mounted on the STB transom.

Its a little hard to see, but the bait well pump is on the Port sponson.

On a plane the water is forced into the bait bag. At rest I turn on the electric pump.

On the inside of the tunnel worked well for us .On the vertical surface , as low as practical in the stern. You get good supply there when running ,due to the increased water pressure A bronze scoop with sea cock going to a livewell pump and then to the livewell and overboard from the tank for the discharge .

Mine is configured the same as Wefings. We tuna fish every year the bait stays lively since while running the live well water circulates without the pump running. My wash down pickup, which is absolutely required when fishing albacore, is a high speed unit forward of the live well pickup
