Hey everyone, hope all is well. I have a 1994 22 cruiser. Has autopilot and is in good shape. Cushions are clean, stove works, sink and holding tank work and no foul smell :) and Engine has been a bulletproof beast. It is a 94 Yamaha 90. It has about 450 hours on it of which 200 I put on in the last year. I finally have it in the shop to put a new thermostat and water pump. It recently started sending off the alarm at 4400 rpm. It is good shape. Trailer is a 94 Load Rite w Winch. I am considering selling her to buy an Adventure Craft. Anyone know anything about those boats? Anyone Have an idea of valuation on my 22? I was thinking 22k - 23k. Maybe this is altogether a bad idea....but your thoughts are welcome and if interested, I am in North Carolina

Don't have any recommendation for you. Now if you had an Adventure Craft and were looking at a C-Dory, that would be a different fish/horse of a completely different color. (there I go mixing my metaphors again!).

For anyone not familiar with them, this is what an ADVENTURE CRAFT looks like:

There was one at our marina on Shasta Lake a couple of years ago.

Looks like a good inland cruiser, but not a rough water boat, IMHO.

With a trailer, would make a good land/water "Boaterhome", no?

Lots of photos and information on the website above.

The adventure craft is an interesting concept. I have been aware of these house boats for many years. The problem is that you don't want to get in rough water with them. They will pound (as any tri hull) and stablity in beam seas can be a problem. Lots of windage.

There is a lot of room, but look carefully if it is utalized the way you want it to be. Shower/head and galley are smal. Dinette is walk through but also where you sleep--how comfortable is the bunk for sitting? Is there a back board or cushion which makes it a proper depth for comfort.

Charlie,

When I was searching for a C-Dory last month, I saw an ad for an Adventure Craft for sale in Stuart Florida.

I decided to drive over and take a look, and compare it to a C-Dory.

The first thing I can tell you is an Adventure Craft on a trailer is close to 40 feet long. I was amazed that it was so big.

The next thing is even though the boat is 28 feet long, there is very little open deck space. A small amount up front, and even smaller in the rear.

There is open deck on the roof, if the boat is equipped with a ladder.

The cabin is long, and has a full kitchen, full head, and couches that fold into beds. Lots of space inside, and sliding glass (or plastic) doors front and rear.

The hull is fiberglass somewhat trimaran like, with relatively low sides, and low bow.

According to the Adventure craft web site, if you travel with the front cabin doors open, you'll have a wet ride.

To me, the adventure craft is more like a large well equipped party barge than a 'real' boat. Ideal for river, bay and lake travel, but not suitable for anything more than 2 foot waves - and even then it will be rough.

I did like the idea of having all the amenities, but couldn't image the difficulties of parking or docking a 28 foot boat that had no easy access to sides for dealing with ropes, and steering deep from within the cabin.

After spending time on an Adventure Craft, I knew I preferred a C-Dory - which I bought the following week.

Interesting vessel, I had not known of it.

Thanks Dbillitto, for bringing the boat our attention.

I think we'll retain our 22 cruiser, though.
