Lewes, DE Marinas and boating

We will be heading down to Lewes, Delaware, on Monday. Does anyone have any reccomendations for marinas or places to launch the boat? I am new to this area and wondered if any C-Brats had any first hand information.

Was there five or six years ago-did not have a lot of Marina's with good facilities-has a public dock (bulkhead no facilities) that the city charges to tie up to-have to go to city hall to pay-found a nice bathhouse at the beach-10 minute walk-showers -cold- and toilets-the town of Lewes is great-lots to do and nice places to eat- there are B&B's.

Let me know if the Marina situation has improved.

Mark,
Lewes Del has a marina facility owned and managed by the city. Last season a new city marina was under construction. The city's harbormaster asserted that the new facility would be open for the 2009 season. There was evidence of good ramp facilities and ample parking in the new marina. The harbormaster also mentioned new showers, etc. Contact can be made via (302) 644-1869. A C-Dory can travel the Broadkill River to Milford De. or access the Lewes/Rehobeth canal to Rehobeth and beyond.
Access to the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean is available via the Roosevelt Inlet. Lewes has lots of restaurants and lodging. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the information from everyone. I was able to make reservations over the phone with the new public marina in town. $2 a foot per day for the boat. They have built a new state of the art public boat ramp facility at Roosevelt Inlet that opened in November that has 6 ramps and parking for 150 truck and trailers. It is free for Delaware residents, so I don't know what they will charge me to use it. I will be trying it out next week. I will report back on how well it all worked out.
