Leaking Helm Pump 2007 TomCat

My TomCat's Helm Pump is leaking hydraulic oil behind the Helm panel. I assume it's the seals but I will have it checked out. I am not at my lake house and don't have my manuals with me as they are on the boat. Would anyone know the model number of the helm pump on a 2007 TomCat? I have found several seal replacement kits but need the specific model number.

Also, has anyone replaced the seals yet? Experiences in doing so?

Thanks in advance

Michael, do you have an autopilot? Also, do you have the tilt steering that mine has (2006). I'll take a run down to the pier or see if I can find out a model number for you.

Found a little more. There's a seal kit available, not sure how hard it is to rebuild but it's not too expensive. We have a SeaStar system, not sure of the model number yet but here's the KIT

No auto pilot. Does have tilt steering .

HERE'S A BUNCH MORE INFO

I can identify my pump, SEASTAR with the fill cap in the top but don't see how it ties in to the tilt steering stuff on the page. Maybe pictures will help us.

Here are their instruction MANUALS

They do say that a full seal replacement should be undertaken by a "qualified mechanic" and the caution on the front page of each manual "before you try it your way, please try it our way"

Oh, and they also say that if your vent is blocked, the seals will leak.

MANY of us have had one or more Seastar helms replaced (not just the seal kit). It usually shows up backing down.

I think ours is the 1.7L tilt model...but would need to double check my manual at home.

We had the same problem--about a month after launching the boat. Backed down moderately hard--and blew the seals. Sea Start stepped up and overnighted a new pump. Wefing's sent up their tech with power bleeding pump to install it. The bleeding has to be done corrrectly--and having the power bleeding does help.

The seals going, when backing down, is a known problem in that vintage.
