Lake Powell 2009

Sure sorry to hear about the problems with trailers from folks heading to Powell. Hank and Maralyn we will miss you at the lake. Pat and Patty - sure glad you had Jim there to patch up the problem, and that for both of you folks, that the trailer problems didn't cause a serious problem to life or limb.
 
Hank and Maralyn- Too bad you had to drop out because of the trailer issues! Next year, OK?

Pat and Patty- Have a great time, glad you survived the ordeal!

Bill and El- Show 'em around and give them a tour of the lake and be sure to include your wonderful narration on the geologic history of the canyon and the story in the rocks!

We're putting the last of the junk in the boat (OMG there's a lot) and getting ready to hit the road for Lake Powell in the morning. I am hoping to be at Bullfrog on Monday, and then off to Forgotten Canyon on Tuesday for the rendezvous. It's 1063 miles per Google.

Glad that the Anderson's got there, sorry to hear about the others which did not. We are going to miss you all at Powell--but at least we had a few days there this summer.

I thought that we had a monopoly on the trailer hubs and bearing problems Having problems with two this summer. As Pat, we were able to make some repairs with file, emery cloth etc. Good things to have in the "kit". We also have a spare hub on the Tom Cat trailer. I think that one needs several sets of bearings, castle nuts, washers, seals etc. Just greasing the hubs may not be enough--and we felt that some of our problems was due to some minor draging brake pads (even with having repacked the bearings after our last "dunk" and taking IR temps every two hours--which is the way we picked up the second bearing problems).

All have fun on the Lake, and safe driving home!
 
In sight of Navajo Mountain out in front of Oak Canyon, so can tether, but S...L...O...W. Great potluck last night, headed to Dangling Rope for more ice and beer! Then back to Rainbow Bridge and finally up the Escalante to re-join the C-Pod! Wandering Sagebrush - I was declared the winner of the Great Yellow Peril Race by default, since you didn't show up!

I'm sure sorry I missed Lake Powell this year. The last two years were fantastic :thup . Hope to make it next year.
The weather at Lake Tahoe is beautiful. Not too many boats out because the major boating season is over. Any one headed north back to the PNW or any where else that might want to stop by and check out Tahoe I'd be happy to show you the lake. :D This is the best time of year until the weather changes. :(
 
Just a quick note - we pulled out at Bullfrog about noon today, got on road about 2:00 p.m., and are now at Camp Walmart in Springville, UT. Fantastic time, pix to follow when Tyboo makes us an album!
 
We are back home in Fall City, uneventful trip home (all we could ask for). Put a few more pictures up, will do some more each day as able to. I kept only about 120 of the pictures I took, each one cropped and brightness and saturation adjusted - Toni took about 300 pictures a DAY, and their slide show was fantastic, with absolutely zero cropping or other adjustments. Wait until Russ and Toni put their pictures up, it will blow you away!
 
Pat, I had not checked this site for some time, mostly due to not wanting to drool myself to death, so here I am reading all about your travel troubles on the way down. Sorry you had to go through all that. Not being a mechanic, that is the part I fear about traveling as well.

Thanks to Chris on Rana Verde for hosting this event again. We had a great visit with fellow Brats and a wonderful time on the lake. The weather was perfect and the fishing is the best we have had there.
We pulled out of the water today and got on the road by 1:00 pm. We should be home in a few days and I will try to post some photos from the MacBook to our album.
 
Diana and I, along with George and Janice of Sea Quest left the lake today. We wanted to spend a few more days, but the forecast was for winds gusting above 50mph. Discretion, the better part of valor.

We had a great time, and truly enjoyed meeting many of the folks that we have corresponded with through the CBrats. A special thanks to Chris for taking on the duties of chief cat herder. If memory serves me correctly, there were 14 boats that we encountered and spoke with. The last being Eric and Susan on E Ticket when we were in Moki Canyon.

Hope to be home around Sunday.
