Lake Powell 2009

We will be at Wahweap on the 14th or 15th and leave around the 24th of Sept.
Looking forward to meeting with the group and spending time on the lake.

The Huff's will definately cruse on up to lake powell this year if health permits. We are fatting our piggy bank for this trip

As I was sitting at the dinette on Daydream last Saturday morning at Indian Cove with the electric heater blasting, I was reading, for the 200th time, my Stan Jones Lake Powell map (this is so much more than just a map - everyone coming to Powell needs to get a copy) and daydreaming about the fall SUNSHINE and WARMTH in Utah, and swimming two or three time a day in WARM water. We are SO ready after freezing our A$$es off this Upper Left Coast winter...

We have our dates set up to head to Powell ,leave September 12th, return by the 26th. We have talked a lot to Daydream Pat & Patty , and looks like we will overlap with them and won't be able to caravan down. Goyo's Steve and Beledia are going to caravan with us at this point ,but no matter what happens ,the Admiral is looking forward to this trip. We have wanted to do this trip way back when we first got our 22.
As with Daydream we froze our sterns at Indian Cove too.

Well it looks like folks will be coming from far and wide again this year. I will be launching at Wahweap on the 17th of September...and heading uplake from there. I think it might be a good idea to plan on a rendezvous at Oak Canyon on Saturday the 19th...so folks out on the lake at that time can join the group. Then on uplake...and gather folks arriving later or launching at Bullfrog/Hall's Crossing in a canyon on the north end...say Forgotten Canyon on Tuesday the 22nd. This should let everybody find everybody at least once!

It looks like the dates are widespread on this event. From as early as Sept. 14th to as late as Oct. 1st. We will be launching from Bullfrog and plan to be at Oak Canyon on the 19th.

Had some inquiries about this trip so I thought I would drag it to the top. Order your Stan Jones map and plan away! Or plan a way...as the case may be.

M was chattering the other day about the possibilties me wrapping up the summer job in time to hit Lake Powell. If I can escape the prision work camp, we'll be bobing around the lake, gots to beat feet back to the other job by the 15th though. Maybe we'll see some brats at the ramp

Latest pic of crc water eleavation 3621 feet. Sure looks nice. Went through 2 weeks ago @ 3610. Just might stay open this year.

We've been on Powell for a week with family - 5 on the boat - and have had a marvelous time - weather perfect with a few pm thunderstorms - normal. Swimming and hiking are great - found some dino tracks before sunrise this am.

We will be here a few more weeks. Dropped off Brad and his two kids this am so time is now ours.

Looks like you might have just missed them. It is just luck when you get the chance to see them turn up everywhere.

Jan and I will be joining the group for another cruise on Lake Powell. Last year we had planned on staying only 5 days, but the group was so terrific we ended up staying 13 days. This year we will have no time limit. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and hope I can supply more fish this year. I invested in a fishing kayak, Hobie Revolution, and I owe it all to Jeff's influence!

We need to get an "Event Signup List" going.
Looks like there is a wide range of dates.
We (SEA3PO & C-Hawk) will be arriving at Wahweap on the 14th or 15th of Sept.
C-Hawk will be leaving around the 24th or 25th.
I guess we all bring what we want to eat--- but what about a pot luck at some point. I hope to be able to make another "Sandbar Scramble" for one breakfast, like we did last time we were there. Everyone donate some eggs- we make the rest.

Sitting in the cockpit of Halcyon, swinging on the hook in a forgotten lonely cove on Lake Powell, listening to the toads trill their spring mating calls, the ravens 'chatting' And the carp thrashing the water on the shore in their mating frenzy we contemplate how fortunate we are. Like many others, it has not always been so.

Now in front of the candy counter ( www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/candy ) we ponder our next launch site - north for sure, but, ah, so many choices.
