Labrador Whaler

Doryman

While looking around for information about the Nova Scotia Doryman (the picture used in my .sig) at this site, I learned that before the stackable dories took over, the Nova Scotia fishermen used this beautiful boat, the Labrador Whaler.

Just thought I'd share it with you!

The boat is a beauty, but you might need to contact a place like the Center for Wooden boats for specifics. We spent some time out in the Maritimes this summer and saw boats just like that but I'm not sure where. Maybe the wonderful Nautical museums in Lunenberg or Halifax. We didn't see any C-Dories out there but there must be afew. Everyone seems to love boats in the Maritimes and I think anyone who reads and follows C-Brats would enjoy a trip. No- I am not a travel agent and not trying to sell anything. Atlantic Canada has a wonderful boating culture with wonderful people, but that goes for the boating crowd on the west coast also, and in particular the fabulous C-Brats. Merry Cristmas to all!
