Those following the Orcas Island Landing thread may have noticed my post about the Blakely Island store closing and the source, the 2009 Waggoner's cruising guide. After contacting the Marina operator it turns out the info was wrong. I e-mailed Waggoner's this morning with info I'd gotten from the Blakely Marina operator. I just got an e-mail from Bob Hale, publisher of Waggoner's with thanks and, after having already contacted Blakely to confirm the data, a promise to have the corrected information up on the Waggoner's site by tomorrow. That's a quick and good response. Nice to see them so interested in fixing a problem.

You just beat me to it. I just got off with the same guy. He also said that they are trying to come to agreement with one of the local residents to take over the operation. Currently the marina has a slips for rent as they will all year, but for now the bathrooms are shut down. Too bad , best bathrooms in the islands and the closest to your boat. No long walk like friday. I really wish them well and hope that the printed verison of the guide (that I dont own) does not cost them to much.

The Deer Harbor marina rest rooms are not that far from the slips. Also, did you know that Friday Harbor built restrooms on the docks, about halfway between the transient slips and the big walkway?

Tom, Friday Harbor now has a new float with his and hers and a disability head. If you remember where you can come in and dock temporarily it is at the north end of that dock area. I think you can walk up the gangway to the customs office from that area if that helps ID it. .

yeah I know about the new heads. I posted about it last summer but there is no shower. The new head is a great addition. I just really like blakely and hope they suceeded and are around for a long time.

Yesterday while thumbing through my '09 Waggoner's guide I noticed an advertisement on page 132 for Victoria B.C. that has a C-Dory in the picture. It appears to me to be that monstrosity 29' C-dory that came out summer of '07. Initially, I couldn't figure out what size it was other than "big" and then I realized that there are no outboards on it.
