Klean Heat Jug Springs Leak

As the title states...

I went out to Adeline last night and instantly detected the odor of mineral spirits.

Since the Wallas tank is empty I looked to my "fuel cache". 2 gallons of 100% mineral spirits & 2 gallons of Klean Heat stored under the front seat.

Sure enough, one of my Klean Heat jugs decided to start leaking.

This from a new, unopened container.

Fortunately, I keep them in a Roughneck type box so the spillage was contained.

If it wasn't, the fuel would've leaked out under the Decraguard and into the aisle.

The plywood in the cabinet would've been saturated and the aisle carpet as well.

A friendly heads up to others...check your fuel cache for leaks and keep your jugs in a box.

Same for the Wallas Tank.

Mine sits in a rotisserie pan.

:wink

Hi Pete,

We had the same thing happen right before we left, a couple weeks ago. The original container cracked in a corner. Fortunately, it was high enough that none leaked out until we lifted the container, but the smell was really strong when we opened the storage box. That was our oldest container; we picked up a couple more fresh ones and decided to leave that one behind, not knowing if an opening in the container allowed air in, making it "stale."

The newest containers are more square shaped than the previous longer rectangular shape. Don't know if that will make a difference in the durability of the container... but it doesn't fit in our allotted space anymore.

Glad to hear you had that stuff contained - would have been a mess.

Best wishes,
Jim B.
