i feel that i got an awesome deal on a 2003 22' cruiser with dual 50hp yamahas.
The boat was purchased a month ago here in N california,SF bay area. The owner decided to sale it a couple weeks after he took it on a 7 min cruise..So here we are.

Hell yeah. His loss is your gain. Welcome to the addiction. Be prepared to use all you available vacation time, money and good sense towards getting out on the open ocean with your CD!

Have you physically seen this boat, and/or paid for it? Your quick description matches a craigslist ad that was using another members photo of his boat which isn't for sale.

Here is the C-brats post:

Maybe the seller is genuine and just used a pic he found online or maybe not. I'd be weary of sending any payment without seeing the physical boat and all paperwork. The price also seems oddly low.

One note is that the actual Sleepy-C (which as we know is not for sale) has twin Yamaha 40's, not 50's. That's not to negate the scam concern, but just a note.

He didn't have it long enough to get pictures, I'm guessing.probably didn't mean any harm, real nice guy.not to computer savvy, was used as example?

Greeneyegi,

Congratulations on your "New to You" C-Dory. Welcome here, and by all means stick around, learn and share. We all do. This has got to be the best group of folks you could run into.

Thanks for the insight and history on your previous owner. I spent a good share of the day yesterday, first checking to see that my boat was in fact, in the garage, and then trying to determine what level of shock, scare, damage, fraud or miss communication was going on. I'm glad it turned out to be what we conjectured it to be. When I say we, there were several entities involved. From the initial PM to me from a sharp-eyed, good memoried, well meaning and diligent fellow CBRAT, to several friends with varying expertise in several areas, the CBRAT admin folks who not only stepped up to the plate, but hit a grand slam, the local PD, my bank, and finally the new owner who has confirmed what I was really hoping -- that is that that no harm was really intended, and that folks here are really great, all around.

Thanks to all, I really love this place,

Harvey

Glad to see that this worked out. When I had my 2005 22 for sale a scammer relisted it for half the price in another state and someone did loss money when they sent a deposit to hold the boat.

Where do i find the correct parts that were original stuff that came with these boats, preferably used.Im looking for a windlass, and the ss thing that holds the ice chest above the outboards?preferably used,?

Welcome to the CBRAT site and to C-Dory-dom. Look around here on the site. You can search for almost anything or any information using the search button up top, about center on the button bar, below the C-BRATS headline. Use 2 or 3 words with "and in capitol letters between them --> " used AND windlass AND stainless " for a start.

Also, look through the picture albums, by clicking on the blue boat name in the box to the left of the thread text and under the user profile info. That will take you to that poster's picture album. You will find that many of the projects are "home made" and parts come from everywhere.

Congratulations on getting a very good deal on your boat. Enjoy, and stay safe.

Thanks everybody for the welcomes.....Hardee is that a stock style windlass in the picture?

Well, To me it is stock, because it came on the boat....however. I'm not sure there is really such a thing as a "stock windlass". C-Dory's don't come with them from the factory (I don't believe anyway). Pretty sure if you want one, it is an option you will pay for. AND, there are many different makes, sizes and types to chose from. You pick which one you want based on what works for you, and what you want to pay for. Lots of choices to make.

Currently a very popular windlass for a 22 C-Dory is a Lewmar 700, horizontal axis. I would start looking there, and then there are several places to get it from. A very popular marine supply place fro many of us is West Marine. Some don't go there because it is maybe a bit more pricey, but in some places, it is what is available. Personally I do very little shopping on line and WM is handy and the staff there are knowledgeable.

There are other suppliers for marine products. Defenders, Fisheries Supply are a couple that come to mind.

Searching in CBRATS is a great place to find resources for suppliers and for all kinds of products and projects.

Hope that helps.

Posted on another thread, regarding an unauthorized use of a picture of a different C-Dory, this is to clear up some misunderstanding in that issue. here is the link to that thread.

The Rest of the Story.

The boat that was sold was in CA, sold by a fellow (Stan) who bought it (from Art - delta towed) without doing a sea trial. He put it into the water, and did one trip. about 7 minutes and then one engine heated up, so he docked it and subsequently posted it for sale. He probably had someone else doing that for him, and whoever that was went to the CBRAT site where he bought the boat from, and used the picture that was in the thread, which was the picture of SleepyC, my boat, in my posting there. the person who put together the add for Craigs List and for Boat Trader, had net even seen the boat they were making the ad for, so were not aware of the differences.

Then "greeneyegi" saw that ad, bought the C-Dory from Stan, and proudly posted here on C-Brats that he just got a really good deal on an 03 22 Cruiser, with twin 50's. Robert did get a good deal and should be proud of his accomplishment there.

He has been very forthcoming in providing information and pictures to substantiate his legitimate ownership of the "new to him" 22. I have been working on this for several days, and have had plenty of very good help in clearing my concerns and in verifying that in this case there was no scam or fraud involved, although it was a bit scary at first.

I have to credit sharp eyes and good memory from folks here on the site. The first was a PM from CDory 23 and then there were several others who popped up PM's and posts. This is a really great site and I really appreciated all the assistance from folks here, and from Bill and Mike in clearing this up.

Welcome "greeneyegi" and enjoy your boat, and hopefully we will get to meet somewhere down the way.
