Just for Dusty........

Got my last email from Dusty on the 24th.... Indicated a bit of weather was slowing things down a bit. Also had a short time with him on my last run thru EQ shop about a month ago now. Always a pleasure and honor to be in that Man's presence.

It was also a great feelilng to know I have the opportunity to follow behind Dusty in the ownership of Sea Salt....which I named FreeByrd. Great Man, Great Boat....

May ol Dusty's candle burn bright...

Glad to hear Dusty is doing OK. Thanks Les, and you must be proud. Here's a salute to Dusty and another to Les, who was obviously brought up along the right path.

And to All, A great New Year,

Hi gang. The report of my demise was a bit premature -- or so said some author guy. I'm doiing a whole lot better and certainly beg forgiveness for all the worry I've generated... friends are friends, and I'm sorry.

Macular degeneration makes using the computer a painful chore -- and serious atrial fibrillation has slowed the old dude down a little, but the major problem has been with medication. A handful a day, like many of my old friends on here, and a couple of them hated each other. One poisoned my whole system -- and my disposition went south. Shux, I was as grumpy as Grumpy.

Still love the C Dory, and as soon as Les gets all the pieces put back in our old classic we'll be showing up at some of the gatherings.

No matter what Les sez, I ain't no hero. Just doing my job like hundreds of thousands of other guys/gals... sometimes you aren't smart enough to duck! Didn't like it then, the guys in Iraq don't like it now, and I'm not going back!!

25 years of flying off aircraft carriers, working different jobs on carriers, and being at sea months at a time seems to do something to your brain. The only way I can get my stuff together is to cruise in the C-Dory at a comfortable speed... and you all know the drill.

So I've really missed you guys/gals, and I'll stay in touch.

:love :love

Dusty

Happy New Year.

Full speed ahead and damn the pills!.

If Les doesn't finish the your CD in time we will come by and hijack you.

OK Dusty, you've got TriCare for Life and all that retirement pay, time for a BIG screen monitor. In fact, I wonder if they might pay for it if your MD prescribed a big screen monitor because of Macular Degeneration.

I've always laughed at that little statement we get with our prescriptions. In effect: "Hey sailor, your doc thinks the benefits of this drug outweigh the adverse effects, so suck it up and take 'em." Spoken like a person who doesn't have to live with us.... Organizing the daily doses and managing the refill schedule(s) is a job in itself.

In any case, glad to hear you're vertical and SURE you can tell the difference between Pat's beer and production pisswater so the only thing left to worry about is more weather up there. Things are tense for my quad friend across from you in Mukilteo so I'm sure you guys are also losing power regularly. The TV tells me you're about to experience more snow Real Soon Now so stay close to the wood stove!

Take care, Friend.

Don

Dusty, Salute and glad your back sir. And I really appreciate your thoughts on needing some boat time. Way to get the battery recharged and the brain unscrambled.

Looking forward to seeing you on the water soon.
