It's Enough to Make a Grown Man Cry

One of my friends sent me some photos of a neglected Montgomery 15 sailboat. I know that Lloyd and perhaps a few others are Montgomery owners. Hopefully the owner will sell the boat, and let someone bring it back to life...

Ouch! That is a real project. You hate to see one neglected like that.

Some of you know that one of those was sailed from Long Beach to Hawaii by the son of a friend of mine.

Bob, that was Mike (Mann?) if I remember correctly. The boat is still sailing in Hawaii. I think he made the passage in 33 days. Pretty fast for that short of a waterline!

It's been a while since I had read the Hawaii trip story. Thanks for posting that Bob. Looking around on that site i found a picture of two of my "ex's", (Pelican, an M-15 #348 and Deena), We used to meet with a group of Montgomery's and West White Potters up on Lake Pend Orielle, north Idaho.

Thid article has a set of photos that I took. Had mostly forgotten all that now.

I think I have mentioned it here before, but in case. There is a Montgomery 17, yellow, here at John Wayne Marina that is in only slightly better shape. No for sale sign recently. It has had 2 or 3 owners since I have been here. Still is always tempting.

I've owned my M15 for about two years now. Last year I spent six days sailing from Olympia to Seattle & back. This June I spent ten days in the San Juan's with a group of Potters. In July, I sailed seven days in the central sound. The one thing I learned is a small sailboat begins to shrink after a few days. My back hurts just thinking about it :-) The Monty is a pretty good sailed. I know several people on this board have owned one. FYI: there is a M 17 for sail in Corvallis OR. Check out Craig's list.
