Is anyone coming to Lopez during the week of July 4th??

I am a part-timer on Lopez, meaning that I live and work in the SF Bay Area, own property on Lopez, and plan to spend mucho grande time there in coming years. I currently am a C-Dory looky-loo but will purchase a boat in the next couple of years.

I will be on island from June 28 through July 5, and I know that some of you guys are out there in the vicinity. Someone might even be considering attending the world-reknown fireworks display at Fish Bay (aka Fisherman Bay for you non-residents).

If any C-Brat plans to stop in at Lopez during this time period, let me know if you can take me and my wife Mary for a spin in your boat. This might be a long-shot request, but what the heck. I'll be there another time, for sure. Eventually, I will get my first ride in a CD. Thanks for your consideration and interest, and I will accept your prayers for my getting a ride.

Best regards,

Hello there! We are your island neighbors - we're on Center Island. If you are able to get to Hunter Bay, we can zip over and pick you up for a test ride.
We will be on island from July 2 - 6 and probably this weekend, too (July 28 - 29). Send me a PM and I'll give you my cell phone number.

So.... did I get a ride?? Yes!!

Since Janet & Chris with Luna C were such a short distance away from where I am at Mud Bay, we were able to meet on short notice. After discussing our respective schedules earlier in the week, we agreed that July 3rd looked like the best day and left it at that. When Chris called me the evening of the 3rd he said, "Can you meet me at Hunter Bay in 20 minutes?" Yikes, I thought. "Yes, but give me 30 minutes!" Done. As Mary & I walked onto the dock at Hunter Bay we could see Luna C approaching while the sun was sinking in the west. It was a glorious, calm evening.

Chris took us out toward Center Island where we saw his beautiful home and dock. What a great setup they have. I then took the controls and drove Luna C into Mud Bay to show them where my property is and where I plan to install a mooring buoy out from the beach. This was my first time driving a C-Dory and it is a fine boat. My wife was comfortable in it and said that when we get a boat she will be ready to take off for an extended trip all the way to the north pole. I think we should start with exploring the San Juans, I told her.

I received a few other PM notices from C-Brats who were in the area as well. Thank you one and all for your interest! I hope we get a chance to meet up sometime.

Best regards, and thank you to the moderators for operating this great forum.

Jay,

If I recall right, I promised you a ride way back when. I missed your request here, and I missed getting the boat out on the water over the 4th weekend. Sorry I missed you, but sure glad you got a ride. Does Luna-C have a high top, or did you have to sit on a bucket to be able to see out of the windows? You may want to consider a Venture 23 or 26 (the C-Dory version of the Cape Cruisers, for bit of a taller cabin and windows. And next time you are in town, (as in the Islands) let me know and I'll get across the strait.
