Introduction and Plea for Assistance

Hello,

I live in Oak Harbor and am looking to purchase a boat in the 19' to 24' range. I am leaning toward a C-Dory 22'.

I haven't been into boating since the late '80s when we sailed a 30' Pearson in the Great Lakes.

I have found a CHawk 22' for sale and am tempted, but can't get the C-Dory out of my mind! I have never even been on one, but it seems, from all I have read, to be the perfect combination of cruiser/fishing boat that we are looking for.

I know the owner of C-Pearl, Mariner, has a 22' and lives two miles from me, but he has not responded to a PM and an e-mail. Is anyone else in the area and willing to show me their boat? I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

J Johnson

E Q Marine is located at Cornet Bay north of you. They were dealers for C-Dory in the past. You can call them to see if they have any used C-Dorys for sale. They can give you good advice on C-Dory and similar boats.

I have a 22 Cruiser at Twin Bridges Marina that I'd be happy to show you and probably take you for a quick ride on. I'm in NYC tomorrow through Sunday, PM me about seeing the boat after I get back. Weekday evenings are best.

I have a 22 Cruiser and will be in Port Townsend on this Friday. would be happy to have you aboard if you can get to PT.

PM me a phone number. I can call you later this afternoon.

Your welcome to see our boat on Camano Island. Ill be taking it out of the Everett Marina Saturday morning and cleaning off the sludge, so it will be at our home Saturday afternoon and Sunday if you'd like to check it out.

You sure can't go wrong meeting all these people. They are great representatives of the package you get when you own C-Dory and are a C-Brat. You'll also see many different mods to these great boats. Do your homework and you'll love the C-Dory even more. :love

The responses and offers to show their boats have been unbelievable. You C-Brats are a great bunch! I hope to be one soon!

By the way,

Welcome. You will find this is a pretty neat place, cool boats and great folks.

Best in your search.

Both in buying and selling, a boat with a nationwide and active owners' group gives you a big advantage. That's an advantage that isn't always mentioned when the virtues of C-Dorys are listed.

No, I didn't! Thanks for the information. I am sorta set on a C-Dory, but that looks like a similar option.

Their web site doesn't show any used ones available. I may be by there Wednesday or Thursday; I'll stop in and ask for Les.

Thanks for the tip!

You are absolutely correct! Having ridden Harley-Davidson motorcycles for many years, I appreciate the value of "built in friends"!

This group seems like a near-endless fount of knowledge.

Yep. They are arguably a better boat. Les was a long time C-Dory dealer and he is a C-Brat. If anyone can give you the straight scoop on these boats, it would be Les. He had a demo around for a while. Don't know if it is still there. At least you could get a ride to gauge it for yourself. Let us know how it turns out. Lurkers need to know. LOL.

Well... the Marinaut certainly got my attention! I have been researching it all evening. I like their web site. It would certainly be interesting to have a boat built 14 miles from my house.

Thanks again for the information.

The thing I like most about the marinaut is the saddle tanks in the gunnels. Les let me kick the tires on one of his new builds and I was very impressed.

Offer still stands if you can't find a c-dory to look at.

I have compared the Marinaut and C-Dory (about as well as I can without being on either!) but can't find information on the seaworthiness. Speed, fuel consumption, comfort, space, etc. seem to be close to the same. Anyone have any opinions regarding a seaworthiness comparison?

Maybe I should start a thread in "All Marinauts All The Time".
