Installing Pot Puller Davit

We own a 2007 22 cruiser and I'm getting ready to install a davit for a pot puller. I will be installing a bracket on the floor of the cockpit that will receive the bottom of the davit. I recently installed our radar arch and followed the procedure that includes over drilling the holes, filling with epoxy, redrilling and so forth to prevent water intrusion into the balsa core. My question is this, should I follow the same procedure for installing this bracket on the cockpit floor??? I'm not sure if sinking in some screws will reach the balsa core or not. Does anyone know how thick the top layer of fiberglass is on the cockpit floor??

Any suggestions/info is appreciated.

With the raised floor I don't think it will be easy to reach the balsa in the core of the hull, but you probably don't need to. I would worry more about how the raised section of the floor will handle the stress, but I'm guessing it hooks in on the gunnel as well? I would probably contact the factory and see exactly how the floor is constructed and if they have any thoughts. For example, I'm not sure if the raised deck itself is also cored? My initial thought is unless you're spending a bunch of time in canada or alaska, why so heavy duty of a puller? Our season out here for shrimp is quite short. I know a lot of guys who use an ace and I think for around here with the seasons we get, along with the ease of installation (works with scotty bases and plugs) and the fact it doesn't leave a bracket on your cockpit floor, it makes a good choice. Let us know what you come up with.

I don't know the construction of the upper floor liner either, but I would do a test drill, carefully to find out what the composition is. Then I would fill with thickened epoxy. You may also want to put a support block between the false floor and the bottom of the boat. Something like Starboard comes to mind to spread out the load, yet be rot resistant.
