Image stabilized binoculars

Brent, I have the Canon 15X stabilized & they are very good, but if I was to buy now it would be the Fugi 14X. On another thread about this, which I can't find, Bob gave a very good discription of the different process Fugi & Canon use to stabilize the view, that showed well the superiority of the Fugi.

I've had Fujinon 14's for 7 years. They are great.

Yes, I would choose the 14 over the 12.
 
I've had Fuji Techno Jr/12 for 6 years and love them. I would get the 14 if someone else paid the difference in price. They're on the boat as always so we can compare to Bob's at Apalachicola. 3 years out of warranty the battery box latch broke and Fuji USA sent me a free replacement. Do not use lithium AA. The Blonde will let me buy anything that's safety related, so please, Bob, tell her Friday it's time for an upgrade. She likes them much more than our Steiner Marine pair too.

There's a pair of new Fujinon Tecno Stabi Ts1232 on ebay right now with a $625 buy it now price. We have Canon 10x30 IS binoculars that are great but I remember reading a Practical Sailor review that said the Fujinons' were hands down the best

I have Cannon 10X30 IS and bought them to use on a river/lake cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow Russia. That was a good sized boat but in the lakes we had wave action and I found them to work very well. Since then I have used them on our CD 22 and 16s. I took them on a back country trip in a Cessna 206 and the pilot told me if I used them, I would likely get sick. I used them anyway and had no problems. I have no regrets about buying them. One point I didn't see mentioned is that if you don't want to use the IS function, don't hold the button down and then they will function as standard binoculars. I do remove the batteries when not in use as they seem to run down quickly.

Canon Customer Service is the worst. We caught them in a couple flat out lies. In the end, they did the right thing, but it was a frustrating experience. That said, the Canon 10x30 IS binoculars were good (crisp view, light weight, decent IS). The pair we had deteriorated... as in the exterior material was turning to goo. Canon Customer Service said they had "never heard of such a thing", but a quick peruse of the internet proved that wrong. Then, they were going to cover the repair. Then, they accused me of dropping the binocs in the water (didn't happen). Then, they were going to cover it again. Then, they quoted me one price, and after the estimate, they jacked that price up again (more than the cost to purchase a new unit).

Because of all that, I would NOT recommend Canon. In fact, I quit buying any Canon products because of their slimy ethics (very pleased with my last two NON-Canon cameras). If I were in the market for another pair of IS binoculars, I would get the Fuji.

I've owned them "ALL"

Canon 9x25 IS
Canon 10x30 IS
Canon12x36 IS
Fujinon 14x40 IS

They all do the job. The canon's get better with the larger versions, but the Fujinons have the best IS and overall optical quality. No need to write a book about the reasons, etc…….!
