I just HATE drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job

A Guy walked into the local welfare office, marched straight up to the counter and said, "Hi. You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job."

The social worker behind the counter said, "Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter you'll have to drive around in his Mercedes, and he'll supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You'll be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips and you will have to satisfy her sexual urges. You'll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the garage.

The salary is $200,000 a year."

The guy, wide-eyed, said, "You're bullshittin' me!"

The social worker said, "Yeah, well . .. .you started it."

And how does this relate to C-Dorys ... ???

tom&shan-

After you've been around here for quite a while, you get familiar and friendly enough with each other enough that you feel comfortable and even a bit compelled sometimes to just carry on some casual conversation that doesn't have to relate to C-Dorys.

Even though the main purpose here is to share ideas about the C-Dory boats, many of us know each other so well we can joke around, tease, and kid each other a lot to enjoy a laugh or two.

About 5 months ago, Mike and Bill added a "That's Life" category in which to place these "off topic" threads. They're mostly quite benign and just add to the friendly nature of our C-Brat family's home base.

I've never been comfortable with humor that belittles a class or race of people any more than I like it when an individual abuses the public safety net.

Hmmm, perhaps I'm in the wrong club...

I wish someone would fill me in on what is going on here. I was lost about five post ago. But then I have always been known to be a little dense. I know something has to be funny because I keep laughing when I read these post.

I'm with you, Tom. I get enough of this type of "humor" sent to me from former co-workers; I'm not looking to read it here.

where is the "class or race" of people at in the joke that are being belittled?
Easy answer: those who need (or seek)welfare. Like Tom, I don't come here to read jokes like that ... even though I laughed at it and passed it on.

I don't expect to change anybody's mind on stuff like that, so I'm done on this one.

Hear the one about the four old ladies in heaven?
