Earlier this year, we had the privilege of taking some recently-retired Operation Freedom Fighters from Iraq

Here, Lt Horvath and Lt Matt are holding some nice Black Drum

They had a great time and ended up the night with a cooler full of Sheepshead, Black Drum and Flounder. Welcome Home and thank you for your service to our Country and allowing us to show you a good time!

Does anyone around the Southern US / NE Florida area have a CD 25 or CC (Cape Cruiser) 26? for sale with either a single outboard of at least a 175 hp for a single or at least 90 hp each for twins (preferably Suzuki or Honda)?

Hi,
I pretty sure there have been reports on this site of some those motors having over 8000 hours and still running in the northwest. Most issues with the carbs are from motors sitting around unused for a period of time without any fuel treament. Usually the more they get used the better they run. For me clean oil is key in both the motor and the lower unit and changing the impellers in the water pumps every year or two. We use Startron or Blue Stabil with some carbon guard additive on every fill up.
D.D.

All I can say is, man those are some big Flounders!

I have about 600 hours on my 06 Honda 90, have never replaced the impeller. 1200 hours seems like a young engine to me.

The only fish I am ordered to go and catch are Sheepshead . Its my wife Anita's favorite fish , followed by Rock Bass and Red Snapper for second runner up .Luckily I can get a cooler full of Sheephead about 300 yards from the ramp under the Highway 98 Bridge in Apalachicola in winter , and spawning at the gulf pass in spring . We also see them year round on the 65 foot dives .
Mac , the fish clearly don't have a chance with you around !

I have had good service from PRIG
Some use it in conjunction with Startron , but I think it does the trick pretty well by itself and is the most cost effective treatment out there . I use it in my 1996 rental Honda 90 all the time .

It sounds like I can get double the hours now on the engine which is good news. Regarding the impeller, the dealer recommending changing it this time because it had been "seated" which I think means taken a less than perfect shape for maximum water flow.

As pictured, a Black Drum - pretty tasty when smaller but most prefer Flounder and Sheepshead

Anytime you get a cooler full of Sheepies you are doing good cause they are hard (at least to me) catch on hook n line being that tend to steal my bait so I end up fishing on credit.

Sheepshead is an excellent fish to use for fish chowder.

Now if you had teeth on the roof of your mouth like a Sheepshead I would start to worry!

You know a Sheephead's got some age on him when he's got a blue head

Hi Charlie, et all, from the Right Coast;

Looks like my 2004, 90s, with 400hrs are young kittens. The report is in
from my 400hr service and all looks great. The SaltAway and cleanings
are paying off.

Charlie, the marina has switched over to city water for the work racks
and all dockages. Before this we had well water for the service rack area.
This water has a lot of iron in it and somewhat brackish. This stained the
hulls with a brown tint/buildup if the boat was not wiped downed real well.

After change over and a detailing job, Sea Angel looks showroom again.
It is worth the added $5/ month for a cost offset. At least now I can flush
the tanks and engines with "good" water.

Marina Shores has put a lot of $$$ into improvements and boy does it
show. All the docks are now keyed, new fuel tanks & pumps, new
pumpout, refurbished heads and new ramp area & bulkheads; to name a
few.

The transient area is real nice and expanded. We could even have a
gathering here. OPSAIL 2012 is going to be a big event here in Norfolk
with the commemoration of the War of 1812. A lot of International Tall
Ships will be here. In 2000 the was a 30 mile long parade of these ships.

OPSAIL usually happens the 1st or 2nd weekend of June. No date has
been announced, yet.

Back to HONDA 90s.... I feel they will last far beyond that date if continue
to take care of them and Sea Angel will be a proud display on the
southern part of the Ches. Bay. Still no other CD25s down here, that I
know of.
