How do you run shore power on a boat without shore power?

You can buy a regular shore power cord that you hook up to a marina power source. West Marine sells an adapter that you goes into the "boat end" of that power cord that you can then plug a regular heavy duty extension cord into. My boat has a power strip mounted to the starboard bulkhead so I plug the extension cord into that and I have power. Works well.
