Honda 90 Speedo/Tach Cable??

This is my first season with a Honda 90. We're trying to figure out what the cable coming out of the lower part of the motor is for.

The nearest Honda dealers are about 20 miles away so I had an etech guy prepare the boat and he thought it was for a speedometer or tach.

Regardless it seems to me if its not hooked up to something its going to be problematic when routinely raising and lowereing the motor.

That's not a cable. It's a vent or something to your cooling system and every Honda has one. It's routinely, not used. Maybe someone knows its purpose but it's not in the way, I tilt my 45's up all the time.

The 90 Honda has a pitot tube built into the lower unit. That hose is to hook up to a water pressure type speedometer. Most people use the GPS speed and don't have a speedometer instrument. If it bothers you just cut it off. Otherwise it will not hurt anything. On my last boat I just cut it short and capped it off.
