Honda 135 on a 25C prop Question

What size props are on the 25 Cruisers powered by the Honda 135? We've sold the one we have in stock, but we want to play with prop sizing a bit.

I think information on 15o Honda's might be helpful as a starting point as well.

Thanks for the help!

I would check with Wild Blue I think Jim runs a 135 Honda on a 25' cruiser. Maybe a PM as he's working for wages at Grand Teton this summer I think. Maybe a pm cause he has a smart phone I think.

Here's mine...2007 25CD with Honda 150. Prop is a Honda SS 15 5/8 x 13 x3.

RPM MPH MPG GPH
2000 6.7 6.3 1.2
4000 12.5 2.3 6
4200 14.2 2.6 6.1
4400 18 2.6 6.7
4600 20 2.9 6.9
4800 22 3.0 7.4
5950 WOT

I have a 3 blade Solas stainless steel 14 ½ x 15 on my 2004 CD 25. When the boat has no cruising gear on board and a half of tank of gas, the top end is at 32 mph. I just got back from doing the Western part of the Erie Canal and I got 3.4 mpg average.

I would suggest that you talk directly to Gene

He is very busy but with all of his experience,
I am sure he will be able to provide you with
some excellent direction.

The prop shop that just reworked my two "aluminium props",
says the very best way to go is stainless steel from ProTech.

The props on our Honda 135's are 3X15X17.
The TomCat sweet spot seems to be around
4000-4200 rpm with each motor tilted up 3 bars on the guages

Matt , Its gonna very likely be a 13P . The Honda 135 is the same as the 150 till you hit 4500 RPMs . Then the V Tec kicks in [on the 150] and the extra sea horses are unleashed up to red line at about 6100. The motors are both H.P. rated at 5500 RPM . They use the same prop as Merc V6.
Lots of options .

Journey On has a 150, and as mentioned above, they're the same until you go over 4500 rpm. That said, as cruisers, we usually travel under 4500, so the following comments should apply.

A C-Dory 25 can be unloaded (light) and Judy loaded (heavy) That lady finds more ways to put cruising stuff on than I could imagine. So, for a C-25, it's heavy.

Based on the above, when it's light, for local trips, Catalina, San Diego, etc., I use a 4 bladed SS prop pitched at 16". When Judy gets through loading the boat for cruising, and she's in the middle of it right now, I use a 3 bladed Al prop pitched at 15". I don't know what the dia is, but they both clear the cavitation plate nicely. Given smooth water, both will get to 5500 RPM in their respective cases. More importantly, they give good mileage and cruise easily at ~4000 rpm. I also tried a composite prop pitched at 16 1/2" (the lowest number possible,) and that was too much.

I would think that 13" is way overpitched, but then I'd be thrilled to hear how it works.

Our prop on the 135 Honda is s3 x 14 1/2 x 15. It will hit 5500 rpms.
...wondering if it should turn a bit higher. We seem to always be a bit heavy.
Suggestions welcomed.

Looking at the 150 Honda manual, it presents the full throttle range as 5000-6000 RPM, so 5500 should be perfect. It's what I shoot for.

And in any chop 5500 rpm is exciting.
