How Many !8' Anglers we're made? Rob Mine is a 1983. I Have been told only 6 or 7. Is this correct? Please let me know if you know.

That's a good question. I didn't know any were made except one that "Old Growth" Dave (Johnson) made "Voyager" when he "stretched" a 16, cutting it in half just behind the cabin wall, and adding 2 feet there and saddle tanks. I believe he still has his.

If my chance you have an 19, they are being built occasionally still.

The serial (HID) number should be on the outside of the transom, upper starboard edge. The HID will give you the manufacture, date, length and number.

See this thread from C-BRATS:

Hope that helps.

I counted sixteen 18 Anglers on the "Our C-Dorys" tab although with a few boats being in the 2000's and newer I believe some boats were selected incorrectly as the rest of the 18's were made in the 80's.

I am not sure of the exact amount of 18's made but I believe it was 13 or 14 or so. Byrdman has one of them ,C-Byrd, there are pics on here of his boat. he did a complete restoration of her and in the process had a larger black stripe put on her.
I spent a weekend on her in Nashville on the docks and she is a wonderful boat.

I sent Byrdman (Patrick) an email alerting him to this question, so maybe we'll have the most authoritative answer available here soon.

I previously owned a Toland 18-8 and it's a different boat that the 18' C-Dory. The C-Dory 18 is similar in design and construction to the "Classic" 22' C-dory Angler. The similarities include a painted fiberglass interior, lapstrake hull with accent stripe, cabin top with an overhang, but no bulkhead or door between the cockpit and the pilothouse. Think of it as the earlier version of the current 19' C-dory angler.

The Toland 18-8 was designed by Ben Toland. Ben left the family business to design and build his vision of a pocket cruiser. I understand that only 12 Toland 18-8's were built The C-Dory DNA is evident by the comparing the photos of the two boats. Both boats share a similar hull design and the classic pilothouse with a trunk cabin over the v-berth.

Unlike the spartan interior finishes of the C-Dory 18, the Toland 18-8 featured a bulkhead with locking door, a fully lined ("monkey fur") interior, a one-burner Walla cooktop/heater, ice box, sink with foot pump, and nicely finished cabinets with teak trim. The Toland 18-8 has a minimal cockpit, and this boat definitely favors cruising over fishing.

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, both boats to me are very pleasing with the timelessness of their design.

Here's Byrdman's response to my email:

"Hey Joe! Great to hear from you. In Mexico 🇲🇽 till mid January. Happy new year. 14 each on 18' Angler. I think afterwards, Ben Toland made a few Toland 18-6 but they had a solid aft bulkhead between cabin and cockpit and only maybe 6 of them. Not sure on the 18-6 100% for production numbers. I have re-purchased hull # 14 and will be bringing her back to Washington waters in April this year. Thanks again for contacting me.

Patrick"

Great to get back to our wonderful Nation. Came back to a frantic flurry of frustration and confusion as my flight from Bush Houston to ft lauderdale FL was canceled as were all flights. Also missed my boat ride aboard NCL Escape from 7-14Jan17. I sure needed the rest after meeting the rest of the Vera family in Ancihuacuaro Mexico!,, glad y'all can't hear my attempt to say that!!

Thanks to my c-brat family for letting me know this 18' link was running. Yes I once again own hull # 14. In fact extream heatwave here in the Nashville TN area so getting ready for a boat ride on "Norman Jean" this morning as we have 67degrees already at 10am.

Thinking of modification of the stern area on my angler. I loved what Bob Rosbourough did with the "power hull extension on the RF-246. It would allow me to open up the sternaft cockpit area adding a couple more feet of useable work space for shrimping, crabbing fishing and just general boat use when traveling. May be able to use a pair of the saddle tanks too like are on the newest Ben Toland hull design.

Great to get back on our brat site - 0nly 7,328 post since I last signed on.

Happy Healthy and Blessed New Year to all
