Hey RedFox + CC!

Hi Folks,

I have been reading the C-Dory Internets sites for over seven years (I think) and have obtain invaluable information. When Dale pulled the original site, It hit me hard because a lot of good information was lost. Then C-Brats was started, and I had to learn how to use a new site. Then the C-Dog site came back. Now the C-Dog site is gone. What we have left is the C-Brat site, which I find to be very good for my purposes, communicating with other C-Dory owners, and learning what people are doing with their C-Dory's. There isn't one topic that has not been covered, and covered well by the members. This is invaluable information for me.

C-Dory is now a hot boat. There is nothing like it out there. Trailable, low cost, live-aboard, comfortable boat that looks, from a traditional view point, like a salty boat of the past. She is like a classicial good looking gal that turns heads when she comes by.

Our problem is that the ownership of C-Dory's is growing. There are now about twenty dealers, three on the east coast. Readership of this web site is up. There are lots of readers and contributors out there. For that reason, we should try and confine the information to C-Dory's only, or it will get away fro us. That way the C-Brats site will stay managable.

Hope this helps a bit.

Good morning folks. The following post is just my "2 cents worth" so stay calm and remember - I'm still friends with a lot of people here.... :star

Was C-Brats hijacked? That is the question I leave members to ponder. In the past and now still, people wonder "why the mad crazy behavior" on the boards here (?) Without getting into more "mudslinging" that polluted my new site the last two days, I'll simply state my convictions, and try to be "factual" in honor the boundaries of the "be nice" rule, that is also a part of my new CC and CD site.

I apologize for the strait-shooting, but hey it's only that crazy Indian guy "RedFox" after all, right... The reason for the bad behavior and persons being banned is simple: The right person comes along, and management could be cornered and found to be in bed with business and profit-driven motives after all. I have nothing against that, and I would wish wealth upon "management" this way (they have possibly earned it) only if they get it out-in-the-open and be strait with everyone! this new evolved-state of C-Brats no longer a place for just BS'n about our C-Dory's and other boats now and again (like we used to be) is clear evidence. Herculean efforts continue to made, to maintain status quo here under the guise of --- "passion for our boats" may be seen for something else now, and answer some questions perhaps?

Realize; sites can start out just like this ("C-Brats, C-Dogs") latter become ----private---- with enormous traffic, and your on your way to possibly millions! ----That's how it works----- and I believe we were indeed hijacked by opportunist personalities. Draw your own conclusions, go ahead and call me "deluded" but in my experience (I will spare you the behind-the-scenes action) and the way C-Brats has changed hands, I present my case. You all keep at it, I hope the profits are split more than two ways now.

One more observation: Why did a man get tossed from the group, when he was never once profane. The silly analogy of the banned member influencing me (RedFox) is another futile attempt to belittle and name call. Human nature often plays-down people this way. I hope most can see, actions like that only serve to degrade the ones doing it. Realize: my "MSN Site" can never be about sponsors! we may promote CC, but that is only our fun! "Cape Cruiser" (CC) can not possibly have anything to do with "profiting" us over there, it is self-revealing in the fact we are not a "private" site or server. I'm in it for the fun only, and hopefully there will be no more attacks from angry C-Brat members there! I am still one after all, and your shaming me too, when you go and act-up like that.

I spent all morning in this reply to keep it free of "passion" (LOL) my only wish: stop belittling me and my site members, and just start dealing strait. This may involve getting back to the way we started - just about our boats, with a more open and less defensive stance towards other owners. I'm not suggesting you reestablish my link either, I really don't need it.

In closing: I really am sorry for "raining on your parade" or seeming to "sabotage" things here! I was asked over on my site by Bill "what are the reasons for your accusations". I thought some of this belonged right here, in return, on your site. Conclude what you may folks, I won't be back to "defend myself" the intent is simply to "clear the air" about all the nonsense, and get back to doing what I like best. I've said it all, please refrain from questioning me, because it is all right there.

See ya around bubs!

Hey, far out. Does this mean I don't have to pay Bill the $300 I owe him for last year's server lease?

C-Brat friends,

If you really want to continue with this discussion here, nobody's going to stop you. However, you might be interested in this discussion (original link edited) over at RF's place - it contains everything I wish to say on the matter. Or better yet - sign up over at his place, and post there...then none of us have to read about it here, since it seems the vast majority of us just wish to move on.

All I have left to say to you, our C-Brat community - thanks much for all of your supportive posts, PM's and emails in this matter. I'm certainly aware that we can't please everyone, particularly as we grow and get more members. We do the best we can.

Bill

On Edit

The original discussion I linked to above has been deleted. Since I expected that to happen, I saved a copy of the discussion, and have changed the link above to point to the copy. No editing was performed - it was a straight cut/paste of the content.

Draw your own conclusions, but we've chosen not deleted anything here.

Folks - after consulting with Mike, I've moved this thread to the "That's Life" forum. Only registered, logged in users can now view and respond.

Hi Bill and Mike,

This is just a quick note to let you know that this participant fully supports what you are doing with this site. I read the link to RFs site; all the accusations being tossed around are not pretty. This site IS fun and I have been amazed at how upbeat it has remained the 13 months I have been here. Over the years, we have met lots of great sailor-folks due to our participation on various sites. Absolutely NONE of those sites (and I am a moderator at one) have been as fun, informative and civil as this one. Your stand on this being a "Home for C-Dory People" is right on. Others can view and participate, just play nice. Promoting another brand isn't playing nice. That shouldn't be so hard to figure out.

I sincerely hope this continues to be a labor of love for you, so nothing diminishes all you have put into this place. The factory website wouldn't have been enough to keep me motivated to see (and that wasn't easy) and eventually buy one of these boats... this website has done all that and more. There were people I met in person at the SBS whose names I already knew. And there are a bunch more from here that I am anxious to meet in person as we travel with our boat.

I enjoy visiting with people and writing about the conveyances we travel with... over the years, I have had dealers and manufacturers of motorcoaches and boats thank me for the positive light in which I have portrayed them. Easy to do, because we make studied, informed purchasing decisions. My total C-Dory experience has been two days at the SBS, an afternoon on Tom and Susan's CD-22, and the wealth of information shared right here. We can't wait to get into this full-time. Thank you for allowing a guy in a part of the country where these boats are rare to stay informed and involved.

Best wishes,
Jim Bathurst

This thread just goes on, and on, and on, . . . and on. So I have to apologize in advance for yet another. But I'll say this anyway.

For any given topic there are different levels of inquiry. For example, if I'm considering going on a one-week vacation I might want to compare the pros and cons of mountain cabins vs beach cabins. Obviously, one is not 'right', and the other 'wrong'. In fact, I might choose one this year, and another next year. With luck I might find an online forum that would help me sort out the pros and cons of each location.

After some meaningful discussion, I choose (at least for this year), to go to the beach.

NOW, my inquiry shifts focus. Now I begin looking for swim fins, boat charters, beach towels and umbrellas, and dune buggies.

With any luck, I might find a (probably different?) website forum to help me with these issues. And with similar luck, those that choose the mountains will find one that fits their uses.

At this point, what I DON'T want to do is 'waste my time' reading what is for me (at least this year), a lot of irrelevant information about the mountains. More power to those headed in that direction, but I'm not.

The whole situation becomes even more troubling when those who chose the mountains continue to post on the 'beach forum', describing what they are going to do, and how they are going to do it. At this point in my life, these messages are just 'noise'. OK for them; noise for me.

Worse yet, some of them continue to describe how and why they chose the mountains. Even worse (much worse) is when (some of) these messages imply that -I made the wrong decision-, and that if I were 'smarter' I would have chosen the mountains like they did, with their 'enlightened information'. (For example, going to the beach is 'old-fashioned' . . . )

Therefore, I would MUCH PREFER to discuss these issues with others who have already decided (rightly or wrongly, 'modern' or 'out-of-date') to go to the beach. If fact, if things work out, I might even meet up with some of them and spend the day fishing, or playing cribbage.

Next year, I might very well re-consider my decision. Forums will have changed; accommodations will have changed, so I will begin my inquiry anew, looking for any and all information that COMPARES the mountains with the beaches. The cycle begins again . . .

Here is yet another level of discussion. On the beach forum, some of those who chose the mountains are asked (politely, I hope) NOT to discuss the mountains ad infinitum. We are trying to concentrate on the -beach- after all. Rather than acquiesce, they become even more vocal about defending the mountain/beach decision!

Taking it to the next level, the 'mountain men' now begin to 'accuse' the beach moderators of 'being in collusion' with the 'beach condo-owners association', perhaps for personal gain behind the scenes. [This is certainly 'possible', but more likely they are simply looking for fishing and cribbage partners, and/or looking for more ideas for things to do at the beach.]

Sorry about blathering on . . . But I hope the point is clear. RIGHT NOW. in my life, I have DECIDED (rightly or wrongly) to go to the BEACH. (Frankly, in part due to the wealth of information available on beaches, and the lack of similar information on the mountains). I want to read about BEACHES. I want to get new ideas about BEACHES. I want to meet people at the BEACH.

If you want to look over our shoulder while we have these discussions, fine! Why not?

BUT:

(1) STAY OUT OF MY FACE WHILE I DO THIS!
(2) Don't impune the ethics of my valued forum administrators.

Quite frankly, this group of mountain men looks like THEY are trying to hijack this site because they want more and more people to hear about the mountains. Yes, it is HARD WORK to develop the infrastructure, and the BRAND NAME RECOGNITION that has been accomplished here. I feel for the mountain men, but that's the problem they are faced with right now.

(Isn't it interesting that the beach forum administrator has even CREATED a similar site structure, and OFFERED IT for FREE to the mountain men? And STILL they complain . . . ?)

Sheeeesh!

Again, and again; thanks Bill and Mike!!

iggy, I dub thee...

C-Brat Analogy Master

...and hereby accord you all the rights and privileges of this most honrable title.

Sincerely,

Lifeguard #2

Thanks, Ed. Good perspective.

Most of you have probably noticed that I am somewhat of a joker and usually am quicker to attempt wit than wisdom. I have tried very hard to be polite and pointed throughout this discussion, but I can no longer take it. This is some funny stuff here! Rather than asking for it to stop we should be having a blast with it. Besides that, the Cape Cruiser guys have weapons of mass destruction. I just know it. As soon as we take care of that, we are going after DoD's oil, and then on our way back we invade Canada.

Thank you for the new title. I am truly humbled.

I will seek to treat this honor with the respect it deserves, and will carry out my duties to the best of my abilities.

Now, we could start a new discussion of how you guys are funneling all this hidden wealth (cleverly laundered of course) to Bin Laden. Who would have ever made the connection between 9/11 and the C-Brats? Brilliant!

I can't keep up! :crook I know I'm a C-Brat... in waiting, perhaps? But now I have to decide if I'm a mountain or a beach??? :| This is like being a kid again and having the facts of life explained to me... I never could figure out if I was the bird or the bee??? :disgust

There comes a time when a man has to stand up for his beliefs... I believe I'll have a drink. :cocktail

You guys crack me up.

Jim B.

all boats are in fact a weapon of cash destruction.
If you guys aren't making any money on this, where are my monthly dues going?

Iggy, I'm hurt and offended, as a high desert type of person I feel totally left out of your analogy

Jim, the instant you met the crowd at the SBS and heard yourself saying "wow" inside, you were a C-Brat. Face it. Life's a beach.

That's what I like about Carpinteria, where I live. I have the mountains to the north and the beach to the south. I look out the front window and see the mountains, and I'm still only 1/2 mile from the beach :smiled

Greg, Thanks for your response. I have enjoyed viewing your pictures and reading about some of your northern escapades. I have been a member of your site a couple of times, so I could view the pictures and read the stories. I say a couple of times because I just got tired of you canceling and re-arranging your site all the time. Just can't seem to keep up with you, Bro. I thought you wanted to keep everyone out that didn't live in Alaska? Oh well, BTDT, now I could care less if you are linked from here--- the powers to be would probably have to re-link it again next time you change your mind.

Now, do I want to go to the mountain and look down at the beach.......... or go to the beach and look up at the mountains??? dang decisions--- thought life was supposed to be simple for a redneck:!:

iggy,

You owe me big time. Read your post and laughed so hard a spit out my last (make that the LAST) gulp of single malt.

And all this time I was heating up the tar for the feathering job on Bill and Mike. And enough left over for B-C.

However, you might be interested in this discussion over at RF's place
Thought Ah would check out de damn discussion on de thread at Red Fox’s site. Sheeeiit. Now dat be an eye opena'. Talk about hard feelings and sour grapes. On 30 post thread 1/3rd o' dem gots been deleted. Sheeeiit.

Dis be mah predicshun fo' Red Fox’s site. Sheeeiit. If stuberg :amgry :crook be allowed t' stay involved wid dat site, it gots'ta self destruct in less dan six months.

 Now fo' dis sites success and millions o' dollars it be makin' accordin' t' allegations fum de otha' site. Sheeeiit. We need t' spread de damn wealth around. Sheeeiit. Bill and Mike should pay :gift us every time we post some message, den de traffic would increase, den dey would make more bread, den give us more, den more and more. Sheeeiit.

Soon all o' us would be million airs :rainbow on dis site. Sheeeiit. How about it Bill and Mike. Sheeeiit. Sounds logical t' ya'? :wink

Iggy,
Well, I'll be a son of a beach. All these years, I thought I was a mountain man.......now after reading your post, I've discovered I'm not. ... :idea ....truly awesome!

Thanks for the astute analogy!!.......Well said!!!!

OK, you guys are going to have to bear with me while I establish the protocol for this new honored position.

I feel like I am now indebted to Sawdust, and owe him a shot of single malt. I wasn't at Poulsbo, and he isn't signed up for Cathlamet, so we'll have to keep this in mind for the near future.

B~C felt left out because I omitted the high desert from my discussion. I'm still thinking about that one . . .

:idea I've got it! Along with this (virtual) six pack of Black Butte porter ( :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer ), as a token of my esteem please accept this (virtual) diorama, suitable for hanging on the wall. In the background is a picture of Lake Billy Chinook; in the box are samples of Black Butte lava and a few sprigs of sage brush.

(Have I got the right desert . . . ?)
