Hey RedFox + CC!

Hi Larry,

Yes- it's been raining like Seattle sunshine down here.
You're on board in Ventura, eh? We were in the Harbor last weekend, during the "dry spell". Are you on the Nancy H or did you finish the sail boat?

Hey, C-Breeze, you like Harleys better than motorcycles?

Boris

PS. I asked that question in a bar next to the Harley factory in Pa. Got a round of applause. As Judy ducked out the door.

Roger,

We are onboard the Nancy H at a marina in Ventura. We will be here for about 3 more weeks, that is if this storm leaves the marina intact. Woke up this am to winds 40+.

Larry,

Windy- yes. I just looked out of the office and saw white caps up here off the UCSB campus. Course, we always get a good blow after the rains--- and it is sunny out right now. Are you going to join us out at Santa Cruz later this month?

Sorry I been so absent, being the original "C-Brat" in the first place, one would think I would participate more here. I have a little to say before I head to the "office", since this came up with my name on it :0)

I did not want any of the responsibilities of running this great site folks. Even if I was never offered any in the first place, back when I started "Sound Dreams" a few years ago, for a more regional "Group".

Before Mike decided to take up the offer for a "better website" from Bill, (C-Dog Ken was hot on our tail for the "biggest and baddest MSN Boating Group") I understand the logic and pride of getting away from MSN like we did, and it really is a better format for the volume. I only wanted to give this new site my blessing (asked of me). I hope I have done that, and really would like to just pop in, and try be useful and share my happy projects and ideas, and be a little goofy too. :xnaughty

As far as me and Cape Cruiser: (throw on a fresh "para-pannys") :o YOU BET BABY! I'm still for C-Dory, but the impression of the site here is a "captive audience" because there is more riding on advertisement and politics now (so unlike what we used to be, but there is good in that too :thup ) I am proud to have the new and upcoming Cape Cruiser gang onboard with me, and because the new craft is designed and built by the original C-Dory people :love they should be more recognized.

Old sleeping dog: Concerning the big "Stewberg pile on" what I saw was a good man kicking some butt :moon with style and class, when great effort was being made to corner him - way to go Stewy! and what else was he to say after all the flak, saying the whole thing was an "experiment" --- LOL!) :xlol That old thread would have benefited everyone, if only pursued in a scientific manor. I believe the conclusion would have been --- there is no "better boat" (since all designs are a "compromise" of some sort) I conclude however; it is a better boat for RedFox! and now I have the choice of a 26 footer, with all the wonderful charm of the level-floored beloved "CD-22" good arrg! :idea

Thankyou for letting me post today. Now, back to my designing...

Hi Boris,
I've been riding motorcycles for 38 years (that may help prepare me for the move from sailing to power  ), most of that on Harleys. Much like the C-Dorys have a "mystique", so does H-D. There IS a difference between the H-Ds and other bikes. But, these days, I am a "gentleman biker", riding a BMW RT-model. I have heard of multihull sailors being called "the outlaw bikers of sailing"... judging by the posts I've read here and the owners I've been fortunate to meet in person, perhaps I will be running with a more gentile crowd. :moon

Best wishes,
Jim B.

(And "C-Breeze" is being eased out in favor of "Wild Blue" in the great boat name debate.)

Thanks Greg , and to all you C- Brats best of luck! Iwill miss some of you . This is SEARAM's last post . Modarators feel free to zap me off your site. I have to many friends with many different boats to let them know that I am a member of this site :embarrased :embarrased I too like my ankles below the water line, the 26' looks better every day.

Gary, I respect your choice to leave this forum if you really wish, but I feel responsible to point out that you are basing your choice on misinformation. Greg is a good friend of mine - still today, and so he will remain - but his memory is rather convenient at times. He was offered, at my insistence and Bill's ready agreement, the same Admin role I have on this board. But he wanted nothing to do with it. The new format would have come a year earlier, but out of respect for Greg's wishes I joined him in telling Bill no thanks. Furthermore, if you reread the Stuberg thread you will find that Greg was among the first to "pile on", but changed his tone after Stuberg blew a little smoke.

I have nothing against anyone's choice of boat, but I am not inclined to participate in a wide open discussion forum. I have a membership in THT that is rarely used, and looked at a few of the others and didn't even bother joining. Inasmuch as the personality of this forum is appreciated by an overwhelming number of the members here, and I own the damn thing and like it as much as they all do, there is no sense in my entertaining any notion of changing it. I am sorry if you or others find it too constrictive.

Gary, I am rather intuitive with respect to the written word, and have a usually accurate ability to see beyond the words and sense a bit about the writer himself. It's more of a curse, I think, than a talent. My take on you is that you are not nearly as gruff as sometimes your words would have one believe. You are a very honest person - a straight-shooter even though it is often from the hip - and probably someone I would get along with pretty well on the dock or the fishing deck. If we got to know one another fairly well, I would probably be inclined to visit once in a while. But if when I came to your home I insisted on parking my truck in your garage, wouldn't you tire of that (even though the truck is a Dodge)? Maybe the analogy doesn't fit all that well, but it is much the same on this virtual home of mine. Anyone is welcome to visit, but don't ask me to change my comfort level to accommodate what someone thinks I should like.

Greg is a very smart man, and eventually he will see some more of the truth beyond what is being said. But for the time being, the link to his site is going to be removed from our front page because it really has become an online advertisement for a brand of boat that is not our focus and for a dealer who is using Greg's good graces.

I don't think any of the Moderators here are going to remove your membership, but if you wish it to be, I believe you have the ability in your Profile to do it yourself. I hope you choose not to.

Mike

Man... I feel really bummed tonight. Also a bit snowed. :( What was said about me today was also a "convenient memory" stating I was offered a position of management on this new site: It is true I was, when the new site idea came up, but what really happened (at least in my mind) :embarrased was both Mike and I declined the offer (at first) we both did not want it, things were doing well on MSN, and after all it seemed like a real pain to suggest to the faithful on the original "MSN CB's" site to move at that time for enough reasons.
After I decided it was time to try a more regional group (AK) and announced I was going to be "over there" mostly, things changed rapidly! all of a sudden, the migration to Bills site (php format) was in effect with no offers whatsoever to me. A member even asked "what about RedFox" because it was not clear if I was in the picture. Still to this day I believe because I seemed to be withdrawing my support from CB's, (MSN) and with the newly started "C-Dog" site hot on our tail, the seemingly sudden decision to migrate to the new and better format took place.

:rose Perhaps my 'memory' serves me better than some think, and things did get better for C-B's by migrating here. I desire nothing but an honest shot at better representation, if there is more flak, so be it, I've had my say. perhaps a vote on "removing my link" would better serve interest here and there (?) I'll not be touting directly that "one boat is above the other" and I am sorry to have to have come back stating what had to in this post tonight. At best, it is all just bad communication; :crook no one is trying to misrepresent anyone, but we should care enough to speak up, at least once. :tux

Many loyalist are saying the CD owners are like "Harleys" (remember I am a "Davidson") ... you may have that, but I say CC owners are the more-rare and coveted "Indian" (and them are a nice people too!) :love

The Toland genius boat builder is back! ----put pride and business aside---- we should be celebrating the return of a great American craftsman - arrg! :o :o

TTFN and good night friends... (you to Mike and Bill  )

Greg

Mike and Bill,

We stand behind you all the way. You have done a great job in maintaining a "Home for C-Dory People" and for that we are grateful.

Mike, it took me three wifetimes to learn that we can't change other people, we can only change ourselves. We choose to accept others as they are or move on. Works for forums, Dodge owners, and the IRS as well. For the overwhelming majority, this BBS/Forum works and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Excellent post. If you were military you'd deserve Bravo Zulu.

Don

I forgot to say in my last response: I am not suggesting that this site changes at all! I would like it left like it is! However, taking down the link to "RedFox" is a bad choice because it serves to aid the two groups in a bridge to fellowship with the friendly Brats, and also gives the proud new owners of the latest Toland craft, a recognizable place to go!
Is anyone really that upset about a linked site. This site remains linked from RedFox, and will remain linked, because I'm sending most all CD owners here for help. Remember, I own a "Classic" and make myself available to Classic Toland creations, and friends up here that own CD's as well.
I'm proud of this site, always will be.
God Bless! :thup

Good one Sneaks :thup , the above quote is something that took me a long time to learn, but I have found invaluable in dealing with people. I would add to it "we can only change ourselves to be ok with other people" not that we have to approve, agree or support their ways or opinions, just that we can't change them, and there is no need for us to get all muffed up over that fact, so we might as well be ok with who they are. I too would say you guys ( Mike, Bill) have done a great job on this site, and if you see no need to change it, you shouldn't. It is after all your site, and as stated previously the net is a big place, there is room out there for a CC site if they want one. As far as the whole CC- CD debate I have seen both sides and talked to both sides and obviously I went with CDory :smiled . And I believe I made the right decision. I don't like to get into the politics of it, but came to my own conclusions. I mean if Cdory was only selling two boats a month, do you think CC would have modeled their boat so close to the CD. Most likely not, There wouldn't be much of a market. If you take a close look at both boats as I did, the only thing CC really has on CDory is the transom area and a couple degrees of deadrise in the stern , some people will prefer those two mods, some will not. If I was Cdory, I would just make a new 22 or 23 available with similar mods( better), and with the customer service and happy owners that they have they would be untouchable. But that's just me and I tend to have a competitive streak in me. :smilep Anyway great job guys, I know this is my favorite place on the net!!!!

I'm finding this thread very interesting. Doesn't C-Dory have a lawsuit going on with Cape Cruiser because there was a no competition clause in the original sale? Cape Cruiser says they are so different and yet an expert (I consider RedFox an expert) claims that they are so alike that they should be linked to the C-Brat website.
I doubt that anyone can find a link to the chevy website from the ford website... Just my thoughts.

I used to mistake SeaSports for C-Dory all the time! The CC resembles way more (with that bow) the beautiful Skagit Orca! another boat I lusted after in my past.

Besides all the stupid politics between everyone and everything on here and about this, I commend this site and the way it has been run (except for the treatment old Stewy got!) Why else would I have continued to try help it build throughout the years, and spent so much time here to boot. I do have a life you know!

Alright, I'm outa here folks. You gize do what you want! If they let me in, I'll not say another word on here about the two great boats, or the link.

out...

I kinda like the way the military handles gays.....no kiss/no tell...

I kinda think this whole thing is getting too many folks upset....heck it is not just the boats....it's the people in da boats that make this group outstanding..

my overpaid opinion
