Hey Primative! Thanks for the hose!

A few years back, Tom and Rene had their CD22, Primative, at the Warrenton dock. They had some friends with them for the weekend and not enough beds on their boat so I let them use my boat for sleeping that night since it was in the next slip over. To thank me, they left me a Goodyear brand rubber hose to replace the junker I had on the dock. (They also cleaned up the boat pretty good!) Anyhow, I never put the hose into service because I sometimes use the dock water to fill the freshwater tanks on board and was afraid there might be a rubber taste.

Fast forward to this year. Tonight I took an old hose from home, one that was flexible synthetic something or other and easy to coil up on a rack, down to replace the junker I was still using. But the thing leaked at both end fittings. Back home I went to get another hose. I decided to try out the expensive rubber hose they had given me. Holy my goodness it is perfect for a dock hose. No kinks, no hassle to coil up, and easy to handle.

I figure I use the dock hose to fill my freshwater tanks three, maybe four times a year. I can use the plastic coily hose I carry on board for that, then drain and stow it back away, and still be time ahead for not having to wrestle with the dock hose every time I use it.

So, thanks Tom and Rene for the hose. And also, what was it you used to shine up the wood on the Wallas lid? It lasted a long time. Lemon Pledge doesn't work nearly as well.

My new to me project boat needs some work- do they need to stay overnight? This could becaome a cottage industry as we all loan them our boats for their guests.

The new hose would just be a bonus at that point....

Hey Mike
We never saw this sweet thank you post. You put a smile on the inside and the outside. I remember mentioning to Rene sometime after that trip, "Its odd Mike never said anything to us about that hose. I hope we didn't piss him off." Thought maybe we shouldn't have messed with a mans familiar hose, and god help us if he has a surveillance camera in his boat.
Rene said something like "don't worry about it, he will find a use for it". Its nice to know she was right. We used several applications of canola oil on your stove top — does the trick, just like on a wood cutting board.
And Matt, if it's OK to mess up your bed, we might take you up on your offer sometime —
We bring our own sleeping bags and only use canola on the stove ;)
