They can't just go and change it!

But they have. Here are the new dates, see if yours is affected:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11– April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 – Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan. 20

OK what is 12/24/12??? and who decided to change this?? and what animal am I in the Chinese calendar or have they changed that too?? Nov 6th has always been a Scorpio.

Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17

The "new" old one. Or is it the "old" new one? :?

I briefly heard an "expert" talking about all this on the radio yesterday. She was very serious, as if the topic was 100% fact based science. Made me so scared I wanted to immediately run out and stand under a pyramid while holding a magic crystal while throwing salt over my shoulder...

Wow - I've gone from being an old goat, to being a nimble four-footed archer!! Looked up my characteristics on the web -- seems like a good swap from goat:

"Sagittarians have a positive outlook on life, are full of enterprise, energy, versatility, adventurousness and eagerness to extend experience beyond the physically familiar. They enjoy travelling and exploration, the more so because their minds are constantly open to new dimensions of thought. They are basically ambitious and optimistic, and continue to be so even when their hopes are dashed. Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. They are honorable, honest, trustworthy, truthful, generous and sincere, with a passion for justice."

Whew - sounds like a Boy Scout -

I've gone from a Virgo to a Leo. If I remember correctly Leo had a Toland 18! Now that the sale of Lizzie is pending, maybe I can talk Dotty into it. But what do I do with my Virgo tattoo?

maybe you can have the tattoo folks rework the old one....you could change the R to an A and the O to R and then add an A

According to the Blonde, my sign is Aggitarian... and it hasn't changed.

Everybody sing: This is the dawning of the Age of Capricorn... that just ain't right.

Here I have been working on learning celestial navigation and now they go and moved all the stars. Whats with that? Oh good, I just noticed that Polaris is still up there where it was, so hang on everybody, we are going around the sun again.

    :embarrased

Speaking of songs, here is one that many of us of a certain age will appreciate!

But also feeling that today's problems are just a continuation of history, and not a culmination or final ending!

The weight of the present often makes us think that our troubles are unique and unprecedented in intensity.... but, ...

No, it just goes on and on..........! (Remember "The Beat Goes On"?)

Welcome Home!

In what constellations the sun is in on a given date IS 100% fact based science. The idea that this is correlated with the personality traits of people born on a given date.... that's another matter entirely.

However, the astrological signs have been wrong for about 2000 years so this is really OLD news. Also, as you can see from the new corrected dates, Scorpio is actually a fairly small constellation in the dimension that the sun passes through it. The "new sign", Ophiuchus, has been around a very long time but was discarded by the Babylonians since they wanted the zodiac to only have 12 signs.

Polaris is still there but due to the precession of the earth's axis, it wasn't always the "north star" nor will it remain the north star. From MSNBC:
During the heyday of the Egyptian pharaohs, for example, other stars took on the role of the pole star, an "undying" star that never set. This is thought to be the reason why the Great Pyramid of Khufu was built with a passageway that pointed to the star Thuban in the constellation Draco, which was the star closest to the north pole when Khufu died, around 2566 B.C. Later on, the pole stars were Kochab and Pherkad in the constellation Ursa Minor. Today it's Polaris, but the bright star Vega had its turn around 12,000 B.C. and will be the pole star once again in the year 13,727 or so.

Tom, 12/21(sic)/2012 is the end of a long count cycle in the Mayan calendar. Since some versions of the calendar end on that date, some new age freaks have decided that it is corresponds to the end of the earth. Also, while I don't know what animal you are on the Chinese calendar, I'm fairly sure that you're the same animal you always were, just perhaps not as speedy as you once were.

just perhaps not as speedy as you once were.

ok there marathon queen. lose a little weight and run a few mile and you think your jack rabbit slim or something? :teeth

Feed him some sweet potato fries. Yummy and much better for you! The ones from Costco are not half bad when baked in the oven.
