Quick intro: Hi all my name is Mike and my wife is Sandy. We are in our early 50's and live in the Trenton, NJ area. Last spring we purchased our "retirement" home in a great fishing/boating community on Indian River Bay, Delaware, and go there almost every weekend and spend our vacation time there. We have owned boats for many years mostly cruising the Delaware River. Our last boat was a 1990 Bayliner 2651 which we purchased new and sold at the end of the season in 1996.
Our home in Delaware is 2 statute miles from Indian River Inlet, and the "fever" is back with a vengence. I'm really glad the people at C-Dory respect this club to the point that they carry the link on the home page of their web site. Reading a lot of the posts helped us make our decision to go ahead and get ready to order a C-Dory 19. So many of you are so informative. Thank you!
My question is, would any of you C-Brats who have done business with Cutter Marine in Baltimore, MD please let me know how there sales and service staff are? They are the closest dealer to our home in Delaware. I only ask this because I called them towards the end of last summer inquiring about the C-Dory 16 and 19. They told me they special order them because they are too small :shock: I am not bashing them, I just don't know if this is the norm or the exception. It would be nice to physically see what you are going to buy. The special order part does'nt bother me. I'm just used to going to a show room and seeing a floor model. Looking to hear from you.

we recently bought a 22 cruiser at cutter ( oct-nov) and will be taking delivery sometime in march. i thought when we were there last to check on our winter storage that there were 1 or 2 that looked smaller, or maybe they were 22 anglers, they didn't have the whole cabin only inclosure for the helm. i thought perhaps they were 19, not sure though.
if you go to the brat map on this site you can find out anyone in the area that has a 19 and maybe get in contact with them lots of friendly people here!

Welcome to the site Mike and Sandy! I live in Montgomery, AL. The folks at Cutter showed me the 1st CD22 Cruiser that I was able to see, on my way up to DC for schools/briefings. They are very nice folks from what I can tell and spent a couple of hours with me going over the boat, the goods, the bads, the power options etc. Great folks. At the same time, I have since heard that they seem to have "found THEIR nich boats" that they are comfortable setting up and sell at their location. Nothing wrong with that at all...it is after all THEIR dealership. You for sure owe it to yourself to get on all the C-Dory boats before you drop cash on them. They are all great boats, each again with their own possitives and negatives....as ALL boats do. Most for sure will depend on how and where YOU plan to use YOUR boat, the speeds you like, the types of water, the number of people, how long you plan to stay gone for...storage... You know...the same things and thoughts that should truly go into every boat purchase. I have owned 3 C-Dory boats. I had a 16 Cruisier, bought it used to just check out and see if these boats were as tuff as toughted...and they are, to see if they hold there value....and they do, and if they truly ran as echonomically as advertised.....and they do. Looking back, for ME and the way I used the 16, I think the 16 Angler would have served me better...but none were for sale on the east coast....and many days over I wished I had never sold her..... I now own one of the TC24 catamaran TomCats and love it, and dream of one of the new TC255s which were only a dream when I bought my TC24. I do love this boat, it cruises great, and is large enough to take another couple on the cruise too. Now, I took a trip to the Blakley Island gathering last summer, spent my 1st trip and time on a classic flat bottom 22 Angler...and again fell in love, so when a very rare 18 Angler came on the market used down in the south east, withing 24 hours of it being advertised..... well.... I have it now too. I guess I have C-Dory-idus. They are great boats. Check out the prices of the tickets to Seattle. Fly out there for a couple of nights, spend an entire day at the factory looking and measuring. I have even made newspaper moch-ups from the line drawings and layed them all out in my garage.... which was great. You really need to get on them for their true 3D effect of where things are and how they are shaped. Then, go get in the water with them. Several of our owners are always happy to give rides. I do. Most of us have. That is part of owning one. Then, after you have your boat all selected, go buy and order it from Cutter if you are SOLD on owning a new one. This is boat show season and from Jan-Feb each year there are generally some very nice deals on some very nice used boats that generally do not last long on the for sale links. Enjoy
 
welcome. I have just purchased a C-Dory 25 from Cutter Marine and awaiting April delivery. My experiences with them were very favorable. I also went on a sea trial with a friend who bought a C-Dory from them. While on the trial all questions were answered and all (small) corrections made to the boat shortly thereafter.

as to your question about a 19 footer, I think Cutter had one on their parking lot in December. You might call and ask if one is available for viewing. Anyway I think the C-Dory line seems to be well designed and built throughout.

Hi Mike & Sandy. Welcome to the C-Dory family..

I purchased my 2005 CD25 from Cutter in Sept 2004. I have been very satisfied with their help. I did have my Sea Angel rigged here in Norfolk, and that was not a problem. They have been very helpful in resolving warrantee stuff and forthcoming with support advice.

This is a company with integrity.. You can take that to the bank.

Welcome to the site! We bought our 22 Cruiser from Cutter and I have nothing but good things to report about the purchase, outfitting, and maintenance experiences with them. They are a smaller operation than some, so scheduling maintenance work sometimes takes a little while if they are backed up. But I like the fact that they tell you up front what they can do and what they can't do.

(I just saw Gary and Ruthie from Cutter at the Baltimore Boat Show on Saturday, and though I would NEVER advocate any boat other than a C-Dory :-), I'll mention for general info that they said their Arima line has not been selling well and they are discounting their '05 Arima inventory steeply.)

Strongly agree with previous advice to get on and preferably out on any boat you consider if you can. You are welcome to come out for a cruise on our 22 anytime you'd like - just send me a PM.

Its a bit of a drive but we have both 16' boats and a 19' in stock at Y-Landing Marine Services in Meredith NH. Can't test drive until the ice lessens, but you can climb on them here and it should give you an idea about size and space. We're closed today because we got about 6" of snow this morning, but give us a call if you'll be in the area and we'll arrange a viewing, no matter who you buy from.

Thank you all for your favorable replies and invites. I won't be doing any traveling for awhile, except to Cutter Marine, or Delaware. I know this is the boat for us. My days of flying down the Delaware River at 32 to 40 mph watching the fuel gauge drop in front of my eyes are long gone. Our priorities are a safe, seaworthy, economical to run boat. I will adapt to the boat, not the other way around. I wish we could swing the CD22 but it's not in the budget for at least another 5 years. I'd love to fly to the Pacific northwest and see the factory, but flying leaves me white knuckled in the seat or in the bathroom. Hopefully I could hook up with some of you guys along the Chesapeake Bay. I really want to circumnavigate the Delmarva Peninsula for a vacation week in August just to say I did it. (one of those to do's), along with driving to Fairbanks to catch the light show before I leave the planet. Still lots of time for that. I called Cutter today from work, but I'm pretty sure all the sales folks are tied up at the Baltimore show, and as fate would have it, next weekend is our youngest daughters 22nd birthday. So I'm stuck on a sandbar for 2 weeks until we can get to Baltimore. I do love the anticipation though. Makes me feel like a school kid again, daydreaming out the window instead of paying attention to the blackboard. I'll keep you all posted from time to time with the progress. Thanks again.

There is also a 1999 22 cruiser for sale in maryland, here in the for sale section. Sounds like a well equipped boat at a good price. Might be close to what the 19 was going to cost you anyway. That extra couple feet makes a big difference.

I'm the friend that Gary Palsgrove refers to earlier. I'd echo his favorable impression. I had one "glitch", but I don't think it had anything to with Cutter Marine. My CD 25 was supposed to be built in October and delivered in November. Evidently, there were "production problems" at the factory delaying promised delivery. Cutter Marine was totally honest with me about the problem, and I chose to accept later delivery. Thus, I was not able to bring the boat down here to our Potomac River (Virginia) home on the water. Instead, CM gave me a good deal on shrink wrapping, and split the cost with me for transporting the boat down here on my trailer. It arrived, safe and sound, as promised on12 December. Needless to say, I'm "chomping at the bit" to get my little ship out of my driveway and into my boathouse (after the threat of ice is gone.)
