Herculiner Bed Liner Uses on C-Dories

I have been struggling with finding something to re-surface my helm dash face that would look good and provide some non-skid qualities when I came across a product called Herculiner. Its a rubberized product used for lining pickup beds that worked great on my helm and is durable as all get out. It completely hid a lot of patched screw and guage holes as well as various digs and stains in the gel coat.

Once I trimmed it out with varnished Douglas Fir it looks pretty good. There are probably other uses for it on the boat and around the shop beside lining a pickup bed that I havent thought of but I highly recommend the product (just be sure to mix it well and dont spill it...its tenacious).

I dont know how to embed photos but there are a couple I just loaded into my album that shows the finished project.[/img]

Salmon Slayer-

Nice job!

I linked your photos below. Click on the photo to view the sequence.

You might be interested to find out that Red Fox used Herculiner on the entire inside of the cockpit. Swore by it as a great non-skid and cover up product.

It's a great solution, just be sure the preparation is done correctly for proper adhesion.

Did you spray, roll,, or brush yours on? Do it yourself?

Thanks Sea Wolf, I brushed it on and you are correct on the prep; heavy sanding, cleaning with acetone, washing then rolling. I did not know that about Red Fox but I am not sure I would want it in the cockpit; it would be hard to keep fish guts out of etc.

I recently went on a halibut trip with Jambo's Sportfishing. He had Line-X on all exterior floors and up the Gunnels. It was a nice grey and was super easy to clean up (IE: The washdown system took care of all fish guts that made it to the floor). Excellent surface for a boat. His was 6 years old but looked brand new.
