Help uploading pictures

Can I (I can't) upload pictures directly from my laptop or do they need to be on a hosting site like photobucket? Already searched the subject and tried, but no luck. Then I emailed Tyboo, still no response. I know this has been covered 100 times but we're headed south soon and want to be able to post pics. I posted a pic once but not sure how I did it. I use a smart phone, and FB but haven't done pictures on a forum much.

Thanks!

I have uploaded quite a few photos from my computer's hard drive. Here's what I do:

1) Size them appropriately and put them in a folder where I'll be able to find them (because the C-Dory forum will want you to "browse" for them).

2) Go to my photo album here on the site (there is a link to it below your name in each post, but what I do to make it easier is have a bookmark for my album).

3) Once you are in your album, look at the upper right area, just above any existing photos, and you will see an options box that says "album actions." If you click to get the drop down menu, the first option will be "add photos."

4) Once you click "add photos" you will get a special window that lets you select photos from your hard drive by "browsing" it (this is where the folder you made helps). Choose each photo individually - the window pretty much leads you along - and then add them.

5) If you want to add one (or more) photos in a post, first go to to one in your album, enlarge it past the thumbnail, then copy its properties/address (image address on a Mac; I forget the wording on Windows), paste that into the text box of your post, and then highlight it and click "Img" up above the text box. Do this for each photo.

6) When you are done writing your photo'ed post, instead of directly Submitting, Preview it. If the image doesn't show up properly it won't do so in a post either. I find that sometimes the problem is that the final Img tag gets put on a following line. Anyway, Preview allows any problems to be caught/corrected.

Sorry I did not get back to your email. This is the best way to ask this type of questions anyway, so others might be helped too and others who know more about it can help.

You should be able to easily upload the pics from your laptop. It sounds to me like the picture files may be too large. You might try reducing the file size before uploading. There are several ways of doing this, and I am sure that folks will help with finding the easiest way. I usually just email the large picture files to myself and direct Windows to reduce the file size when asked. If you are using a different OS then help from other users will be forthcoming here, I am sure.

I have not yet figured out how to upload pics directly from my iPhone to here. I can put them elsewhere on the web and embed the pics in a message, but a way to simply send them from my phone to my album on C-Brats has eluded me. Maybe someone can help me, too?!?

Again, please forgive me for not replying to your email. No excuses other than the day job and the kids. I hope you get it to work for you.

Thanks Sunbeam but that is exactly what i did and it said adding picture XXX.jpg but nothing ever happened. I'll try again. I've read the instructions, it just isn't working. On the top, don't you have to choose a format?

They should be small enough since it said they didn't need resize and were taken with the phone anyway but now on laptop. Sounds like I did it right so i'll just try again. Windows 7 OS

Are you using a Mac? If so, use Firefox as your browser. For some reason, Safari doesn't play well with the CBrat software.

Just as a data point: I use Safari consistently to upload photos (and posts) to C-Brats. I haven't had any issues so far.

Well go figure...Now the pictures are up, in triplicate. I tried from 9pm til midnite last night, and nothing. Guess it just needed to reboot. and check out my upcoming post of my project completion now that i have a picture of it.

I have noticed that sometimes that "uploader" screen *says* it's still uploading the photos, but if I check my album they are already there. Maybe that's what happened to you (?).

Upcoming post of project completion: Cool! I always enjoy those :thup

I wonder if my newer Macs will work. I haven't tried in about six years. Thanks!!

Edit: Hey it works now (probably has for years). Neat

Sounds like it may be worth a try again. Just FYI, I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.4), with an older version of Safari (5.0.2). Haven't tried it on my G3 iBook yet ;)

Edit: Wow, you don't mess around when it comes to photographs, do you. Nice!

How do you upload images into a posting without having an album? I tried the img and url buttons to post pics from Picasa albums and was unsuccessful. I should ask a fifth grader

:thup

Brent, the image on the web. Right click and select something that reads like 'copy image address'. In the comment box, hit 'Img', paste in the address , the hit the closing 'Img'.

Here's an image from Flickr. I took the inner braces out so you can see the HTML, it looks like this:

[img http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4090/5056 ... 0280_b.jpg /img]

and displays like this

Thanks to all who chimed in. The problem was that the window "adding xxx.jpg." does not go away aftre the picture downloads. I can live with that.
