Help! Lost a Set Screw for Camperback Frame Brace!

Pat,
I just returned home from a weekend trip and saw this thread. I'm guessing that Railmakers in Everett will have the screw that you need. They are on Cedar Avenue just off I-5.

So, if I buy a box of 100 here, and keep an extra one to be safe, who needs the other 98?

Pat, if that's the one you're buying, check it closely. 1/4" seems VERY big for a set screw in a bimini, #6 or #8 seem more "fitting".

Charlie, I took the stainless set screw from the other side into the hardware store, and we visually matched them up one by one. Way bigger than the ones you might ordinarily guess. Plus, it actually fits. So maybe it seems big, but I am pretty confident that is the correct size.

Pat they come in bags of 10 from McMaster Carr. Then you only have 8 spares (which I suspect you might need over the next several years).

Pat,
I'd look for some of those screws on EBAY used. You might be able to save twenty or thirty percent. :P I used Locktite thread locker on ours plus put a wrap of electrical tape around the fitting were the set screw goes. Prevents fallout if you are the type who trailers with the the frame up and in place of the boat.
D.D.
