I am posting in this forum because I am not certain when I am going to sell Frequent Sea, but since I will be traveling with the boat on the West Coast, this may give potential buyers a chance to see the boat this summer. Since the boat would not be for sale until at least August, or perhaps next year, it is not appropiate to list it in the "for sale" postings.
I purchased Frequent Sea about a year ago for a potential trip to Alaska. That did not occur last year because of my heart problems, and although I am heading to the PNW, it is very possiable that we will not reach our goal of Alaska this year either. We and my son have used the boat less than we anticipated, and we have to drive a truck from Florida to California to use the boat other than in the immediate Dana Point area. Although we will continue to use our Tom Cat 255 on the East Coast, we don't forsee using the boat as much on the West Coast in the comming years.
Frequent Sea is a 2003 C Dory 25 (Hull # 30), first sold in Spring 2003. She was used for two seasons by the first owner, and when I purchased the boat, it had 130 hours on the engine. Currently there are about 200 hours. The problems with the boat and "bad survey" are very well documented in the archives of this list, as are what I did to completely rebuild the transom and put in an entirely new cockpit floor. I also rewired the boat, filled all screw holes in the bottom where water could potentially get into the core, tabbed in the bulkheads and believe that the boat hull and cockpit deck are better than when the boat was built. The engine is in good condition. I did a full service and replaced the water pump (no wear, but just prophylactically replaced). I am experimenting with props this year to get the optimal prop for this boat. I have picked up a 3 blade 13" pitch and after running some more numbers will pick up a second SS prop which I hope will optimize performance, both at sea level and a Lake Powell.
The boat has refigeration, a water heater, extra battery charger, VSR relay, and a second house bank of group 31 AGM batteries. There is a 15 HP Honda, 2000, with 5 hours, Electric Start Kicker and dinghy motor, plus a 10.5 foot Vinly slatted floor roll up inflatable for the boat (perhaps a 4 hp dinghy motor and 6 1/2 foot roll up dinghy also--these are 2007)
There is a Lowrance Global Map 3000C with west coast chip,. with Create a map, along with a 2007 Garmin 492 GPS plotter with hard drive of all NOAA charts of US on the chart plotter, plus Garmin chip for British Columbia to Alaska. There is a 2007 Furuno 1715 Radar, and a Lewmar 700 Fish Pro (free fall or manual) electric windlass (2007). I believe there is a hummingbird fishfinder, plus a second depth sounder (digital only). There is a Standard Horizon VHF radio, and a full entertainment system, with CD, I pod or XM/Sirius input and Bose speakers. There is a new Camper canvas, but some chafe in the bimini top when traveling. Sides unused. The macerator pump was replaced, head rebuilt. Fans are in place in the bunk and by windshield. There is a 5000 BTU Air conditioner for the front window, which will run off the 1000 watt Honda Generator. There is a 700 watt microwave (2007). There are full anchoring gear, lines etc.
The trailer is rated at 7500 lbs and was new in 2007. It is alumium, and has been fresh water washed at each time it was imersed in salt water. Brakes on both axels, new tires.
The boat currently is in a secure storage lot about a mile from Dana Point and I believe that this slot could be transfered. We will be there in about 2 weeks. I will be at the Rio vista/Delta Cruise, mid May, and in Sequim--possiably at Anacortes in late May. We will be cruising the PNW for 6 to 8 weeks this summer (depending on my health)--and then bringing the boat back to S. Calif--or if there is a buyer, we can deliver it anywhere in the continental US (not too keen on driving it to AK, with the RV)--but anywhere in East or South can be arranged. The boat is fully rigged and ready to cruise anywhere in the US--with digital charts aboard.
Price--somewhere near 55K. About what I have in it, minus my labor and some of the costs of gear which I put aboard. I may not sell until next year, but if you are interested in buying a CD 25 in turn key conidition, then at least take a look at "Frequent Sea"--we are not interested in selling until at least the end of July 2008 (presuming no serious health issues).
