Has anyone ever cruised Lake Nipissing in Ontario?

Looks like prime C Dory area once the bugs are gone. Shallow, island studded, full of fish and it appears to be Out There for those who like to get away.

I have never been there, but it is VERY popular with friends who are fisherman. Many take a yearly trip there.

Here's a nice trip report from one of the gang over at the Trailer Sailor Bulletin Board. Looks like Nipissing has real possibilities. I plan to trailer between the North Channel and Ottawa and found the big lake right on the way.

Remember: Loose Lips sink, errr, cause ships to come and make a place 'popular', which is the end of it...
Back in the late 60's and early 70's we took the kids to Nipissing in early May (ice in the wash basin in the morning) for our annual vacations... It was paradise on earth... Crisp mornings, afternoons near 70F, no bugs!, wilderness for miles, and the fish were trying to get you...
Highly recommended by me... This late in the summer, wait till the noseeums are over, however...
