Agree with Roger, it was just put in the brackets upside down. I have a piece of SS cable whch attatches my swim ladder to the hand rails. I would hat to loose that puppy! Most boats come with plastic clips which go on the back of the transom, and the ladder is stowed that way. I have seen other boat run with the ladder in that position. I would still secure it. Also not leave it out in the marina. Sometimes thinks "walk".

I mentioned to the Armstrong folks that my clip which kept it in place in the water seemed a little loose at a boat show. He reached into a bag, and gave me a new one, he said might be slightly tighter.
 
That's correct, I just put it in upside down for the photo. Other boats I dive from have the locking pin so they can motor with the ladder attached that way. Merry doesn't trust that having a cable leash will keep the ladder from bouncing out of the bracket and going right into the props. We'll stow it in a fish locker while under way.
 
I ordered vinyl lettering before the boat was delivered, and today Merry and I got to do another ritual. We put the name No Pressure on each side and our hailing port on the transom. It looks like a real boat now. :mrgreen:

I secure my ladder while diving with a SS piece that slides between the ladder and bracket held in place with a coat hanger.

I also bought a 3 step AL ladder that floats and fits in the fish box. I had to recover a 4 step SS ladder a few years ago in 65' and decided I wanted one that floats :)
 
Do you wedge the ss piece in? Our boat came with a three rung Armstrong ss ladder that floats. Well, it says it floats on their website. I forgot to put it in the water tonight to test it.
 
Congrats on the new boat! She looks great. We're loving our 25' and I finally get to sneak out and do a few dives tomorrow.

I also installed the roll control system for our dive tanks and they have worked great so far.

I have a flat SS rectangle with one hole drilled on one end. In this hole I ran a coat hanger with a twisted end so that it can't slide all the way through. The other side of the coat hanger I shaped into a tear drop so I can place it over the other side of the rectangle. Does this make sense?

I might try to find a non-rusting solution this year (coat hanger rusts quickly exposed to salt water of course) but it has worked perfectly.

Keep an eye out for "C-Pelican" when at Catalina as I try to get over there as often as possible.
I also started diving again after a 30-year hiatus.

I'm maybe missing something here about securing the dive ladder in place. Don't you guys have a rotating locking ring as shown here? If not, they'll send you one N/C.
