Painted inside and floor, bottom and almost done with top side.have simrad radar and chart plotter 'crabbing davit and seats to install, its my first boat, this is work but fun I have learned almost everything about boats from cbrats thanks [/img]

Very very nice. When you began were there any core issues with that boat? What was its history in terms of being slipped and stored out doors. I've been looking at some older C-Dory's to replace my 2006 that just sold. But there has been concern expressed on the Brats site about core problems in older C-Dorys.

No hull problems, patched bolt holes from old swim platform and wood was good,I drilled the holes out and all dry, floor is solid, boat was stored on trailer in southern ca

Funny this post should come up now. I am in the process of restoring a 22ft angler as well. However, in much worse shape. It has a new floor aft and new 2 inch transom.
You guys are my inspiration, especially Catch 22, studied your pics on your resto.
Let me know if you want pics

mdrake,
Sorry to break the news, but it's a boat, and therefore you will never be 'half way done' unless you stop adding to your 'boat to-do' list. However, that's also half the fun, so keep learning and doing and adding to the btd list. You're right on the right site for expertise on all things C-Dory.

Cheers!

I don't think that's true - it depends on the starting point. If the boat is in bad shape when you get it, it's possible to get halfway done. Then depending on a combination of:
1) the speed of your work
2) the rate at which you get new, "brilliant" ideas
3) the rate at which stuff breaks (related to how often you use it) and
4) and the amount of money in your wallet -

you wind up at some percentage done and you can never get beyond that percentage. Some hit as high as 90%, some only 70%. Some less than that. None are ever 100% done. The only exceptions are perhaps on the day they sell it or for the really deep pocketed, on the day the buy it (but prior to using it and finding out what mistakes they made in configuration).

OK I'm half done installing the parts I've already purchased, and I'm already thinking a new trailer and repower would be a good idea lol

Out of curiosity, is this the boat from San Diego that was going for 11k?

I take it back I haven't done anything but paint and bolt on new parts, glassed a bunch of old holes stuff like that.I don't think I could repair a boat in that shape,it will be nice when it is done,my rear bulkhead had been replaced also, but mine they put a thick glass wall in.

My plan this summer is to un rivet the house, take it off and roll it over and redo the bottom which has some gashes etc. So we will see how that goes. It is fun to do the rehab, otherwise I would not do it.

OK, chriscarrera, I'll ask. Since you have a perfectly good boat, why are you messing around with that boat? And where did you get it? I assume it was a gift.

Not to be unkind, but it looks like the quickest way to fix it would be to get another boat. Though I wish you the best of luck.

Boris

It was not a gift but not unreasonably priced, barely though. As for why, it looked like a good challenge. We will see. I have a two year timeline.
