Thanks for your narrative and pictures of Thailand. It brought back memories from '67 when I visited Thailand while on R&R from Viet Nam. Although, my trip was not as lengthy or as diverse as yours, I did manage to cruise through the floating market. The trip by train across the "Bridge over the River Kwai", while enroute to visit family friends in remote Thailand, was also a part of my brief visit to Thailand. (I chose Thailand as my destination for R&R as my roommate in college was from Thailand).
 
Good gracious! That was cool. What a trip. I floated through Bangkok in '76, and your compilation recalls those delightful memories. I think the Thai people made that trip especially memorable, and I don't recall cozying up to any frisky pachyderms.

We are currently in Vernal, Utah. We are provisioning Halcyon for a cruise on the Green River through Flaming Gorge. looks like some incredible country with some outstanding geology. We'll post a tale about the trip.
 
Sorry to have missed it (but as you may have seen, we had a GREAT time at Lopez, even if less geologically striking). Ah well, maybe next time!

"The Mystery of Mojave" was great! Your students must have loved you, Bill. Amazing to think about all of human history residing in the last word of a 500 page book. Kind of puts us in our place, doesn't it?

Sorry not to respond, Chuck -- we left Vernal for Flaming Gorge and haven't had an internet hookup until tonight in Twin Falls, ID. We went north out of Vernal (steep climb pulling the C-Dory) over the Uinta Mountains to Manila, UT. Put into Flaming Gorge Reservoir at Lucerne Valley, just east of Manila. We had a great cruise -- the fishing in that pond is amazing.
 
Just finished a great cruise on the Green River through Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area -- marvelous cruising grounds with some truly world class fishing. You can read some info on the gorge on our http://www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/2004.htm If you click on either of the two entries for May you'll pick up Flaming Gorge.
 
We're in Twin Falls, ID en route to Coos Bay, Oregon. We hanker for some salt air after being inland for the winter. Look forward to seeing some of you folks up in the NW soon.

we threw some shrimps in the freezer to share with you when you get here. we will have to sit here and eat shrimps and drink a few brewskys. I am sorry to say they will have to be Millers since our Hagen store has a hard time gettin the Snoq.Falls Brew.

Just pulled yesterday after almost a month cruising in, around, and "over" the San Juans and Gulf Islands. What a marvelous cruising ground and great good times shared by our son and two grandkids with a 'pod' of C-Dory owners. Speaking of pods, we drifted through the better part of an afternoon with 3 pods totaling over 50 Orcas. Breaching, tail flapping, spy-hopping, ... you name it. So many fine memories for all. And the San Juan sunsets are incredible. Two weeks without a drop of rain, while the grandkids were cruising with us -- incredible, especially in June, say the locals.

Many thanks to the great C-Dory folks of these waters for good times, crabs, sundowners, and tales shared.

When we settle in with a little time, we'll do some posting of the experiences up here and something about the geology we kicked and scratched.
 
Now, we're off to Colorado for a few weeks camping with family -- our annual gathering with all the kids and grandkids. Then, about the 28th, we'll be back to the NW to trailer up to the headwater lakes of the Columbia River in Rocky Mtn British Columbia -- Kinbasket, Revelstoke, and the two Arrow Lakes. Maybe, even get down to Roosevelt for some high desert cruising.
 
Enjoy your continuing adventures, Bill and El. Very much enjoyed cruising with you and the Brats a few weeks back. Maybe we can repeat the fun next year.

Juat read your article in Nor'wester -- we'll be sending copies to your buddies, Bryce and Ami -- thanks for the kind words.
We had a great time in Colorado -- camped in the Lost Creek Wilderness, above 9,500 feet -- rain and hail most afternoons, but no problem. The kids caught heaps of trout (and released them, you'll be glad to know), tubed the Tarryall River, hiked everywhere, and whopped the Grandparents at every card game known to kids. Good time had by all.
Now in Stanwood, visiting with Roger and 'Lisbeth -- head out today, in tandem with Chris on Rana Verde, for the Columbia River headwater lakes in British Columbia -- a few weeks cruising Revelstoke, the Arrow lakes, and hopefully on the weekend of 6th we'll be on Roosevelt. Coming up to join? Pat and Patty and hoping to get there.
 
Hi, Bill and El. Thanks for the update on your comings and goings. Can't make your latest gig but I'm glad you snagged a Beer Guy and Girl. Have a wonderful time, and we'll be following you right here at the Brat Bistro.

Sign me up for next year's San Juan/Gulf Island cruise with you and your grandkids. They reminded me it's okay to swim in Conover Cove, and run around squealing in the parking lot.
 
By the way, is it too early to plan a two week Brat Extravaganza to Desolation Sound and beyond next summer?
