Halcyon News

Them Hondas are so quiet you don't know how fast they're running. Shoulda bought a Yamaha.

I say 5600 is perfect. Just tell old lead foot (whichever one is driving at the time) to back off a little.

Enjoy the sunshine. If it keeps raining like it has been here, I might not need the trailer to bring the boat home.

And hey - if you are just sitting around some evenings this winter, come on in here and regale us a litttle, please.

Hey Bill and El....and all other C-Brats. Held up here in the Myrtle Beac Marriott Resort at the Grande Dunes and have been for a few days. I am finding myself way tired from the work and effort going into fixen things as we can down on the Gulf, and for sure enjoying a few days "un-plugged." Glad Sherryl got this conference set up...real sweet being in ocean front view with balcony to watch the wonderful sunrises each morning...followed by the breakfast buffet and omlete table.... Living life hard...but without my boat. Bill, interesting fix on the rpms of your new boat pushers. Glad you knew enough NOT TO REPROP...and get those rpms up where they are suppose to be...grin. WOW...that would have been turning.... So, do you get new tachs, or are you simply going to figure out some type of ratio? How many hours were on your other motors? Hope to see yall soon. Heading back to Bama on Wednesday. Hope to see the TC255 in the water while overhere in SC. Gotta call Jeff and find out where she is for sure.

Bill & El, After you left I got to thinking real hard about your suggestion about the Seattle boat show & get together so I'm checking out flights out of Buffalo .Looking at westbound Thurs. and eastbound Mon., that would give me the weekend to meet people and check out the area. What do you think????? will you supply ADULT SUPERVISION for a couple of days????
Terry

Bill & El: Got your call and thanks! Things are fine and will call while on the road today at some point or on Wednesday when at home.

Terry: If I make the trip to the SBS, that plan of flying in on Thursday and out on Monday worked great last year. I just talked with my brother Mike and he and B' will not be making the show this year due to their "home improvement project." They are basically building another home on their current lot...Bill... you would love this set up.

Others...Particuarly other "Fly-in" folks: If when we get things settled, I am up for splitting one of the two bed room billets where we stayed last year and the price of a rental car that is needed to allow for runs to and from the SBS and other events. Let me know by PM if interested.

Bill & El, Talked to Linda after our call-now have room and flights locked up ,tried Byrdman via phones --no answers so just went ahead and got everything but car arranged. In Thurs early PM --out Mon. early AM ,,,2 bedroom suite, and going to try for 4(four) liters of RED :cat if I can fit it in my carry on.
If Byrdman contacts you its OK to give him my home and cell #s.
Stay in touch !
Terry

Pat -- We put on new tachs. So, all you have to do in life, if things are slowing down a little, is grab a bottle of Terry's Red Cat and put on some new tachs! Yeee Haaa!

Great to have east coasters coming to Seattle -- Charlie, Pat and Terry -- how about some more of you folks?

Terry...posted message on SBS link and left you a return call......return it "if you feel like it..." grin... I liked your recording...we should get along fine.

Would like to reserve one of those reds if they are not all spoken for....

see yall there.

Bill&El, Still can't make it work---maybe HELP section will explain my problem .Going to call airline Thurs. and see if I can bring a case of RED :cat as these posts are generating interest and thirst------ and thirst is a terrible thing.
PARTY TIME!!!!!
Terry

Pat and I will not be able to make the trip. The fellowship would be super. The real reason to go would be to try some of Terry's Red Cat wine. Thank heavens we can buy it in our local Pennsylvania State Store. I hope you all enjoy the wine as much as we did on the Erie Canal

El & Bill, Thank you for all your wonderful pictures & writings. I like others have read along as you make your journey and am amazed at the composition of your pictures and your writing brings out the details like reading a book. You have an amazing gift and thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us.

Ted and Donna --
Thanks for the kind words about Halcyon Days. We have been rather slow in posting our fall cruises, due to trailering cross country, a party here in Vegas, and the pending holidays.
We hope to be posting some more tales (probably just after the Holidays). El and Bill

We have just posted a new thread on Halcyon Days. This one describes Le Grand Circuit Nautique, a thousand mile circumnavigation of a portion of the eastern provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and Vermont and New York State.

http://www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/legran.htm

We're madly writing, out here in Colorado, the cruise on the Le Grand Circuit we took last fall. There will be more postings to come and we'll post here to let you know.

El 'n' Bill -

A great start and I'm waiting with much anticipation to complete the full circle with you. My Lampman line settled in Swanton VT in the late 1700s, and Lisbeth (our mutual good buddy of the Roger and Lisbeth team) and I are connected to the same VT/upper NY tribe!

Great meeting you two again at the Seattle gathering of the clan, but sorry there was not enough time to sit and chat.

Keep the pictures and "wish-I-wuz-there" words coming!

:love,

Dusty

Yeah, Dusty, and I agree. Keep your stuff coming, Bill and El. :lips

And Bill and El: Having chronicled your above bits of lore and sharing, please disregard my email from work which whined, only just a little, mind you, when you might be up this way.

I have plans for Super Sunday-We will read El and Bills new posts and then drink a bottle of RED CAT with many toasts to their wonderful writings. After that I plan to go roller skating-it may not be pretty after all the wine.

Nice post on the NY loop Bill. By the way....how much is the Brooklyn Bridge??? You have a real winner in Ms. El.... You just keep her going on those loops....particuarly the ones with indoor plumbing. Chattanooga has done some great things with their water ways... We might just have to put us together a loop.....an almost complete loop..... well, OK... another horse shoe....(grin), with indoor plumbing along the way. Draw you a circle from Knoxville TN, to Chattanooga, to Guntersville, AL, to Huntsville, AL, to Decatur, AL, to Florence, AL, to to Pickwick Dam in TN, back north up to the land between the lakes area, hop back on the Cumberland back to Mt. Juliet, then....keep a going till end of navitable waters for C-Dory boats. Or, go the other way, put in somewhere on the Cumberland based on known good water levels up river on the Cumerland (no need risking the higher ends on the rocks and props...just for another 50 miles.)..... What ya think? How many miles do ya think that is? Interest? Would for sure need to be a fall trip as to avoid the spring thunder storms (or not), the summer heat and bugs (for sure avoid), the colors would be nice....in the fall...and if you have never experienced a UT football game from the water....it is simply a boating experience you need to have done. 8) :hot :thup :smiled

We just got an e-mail informing us that our Halcyon Days had 1,009 hits last Sunday, a one-day record for 2006. Thought you folks would be interested in how many folks are reading about a C-Dory on a winter Sunday.
