Gulf Island Gathering

I was wondering if there was any interest in a Gulf Island gathering sometime. We spent a couple of days at Otter Bay Marina on North Pender Island. www.boattravel.com/otterbay/. It is a nice, clean protected marina with a pool and cabana. It is located close to customs at Bedwell and also close to many places in the south Gulf Islands.
Is this something we might want to kick around?

I am planning on heading to Desolation Sound the last weekend of August then back to San Juan's after laborday. We would like to meet up with anyone who is around at that time.

Not sure, just wanted to see if there was some interest. It could be a good off season destination. The weather is to iffy in November and December but after that who knows.
Steve, were are you launching at? Are you trailering up or cruising? I am sure that you could get a few folks to meet up with you when you get back.

Fred

Yeah, there is interest here! We have Langley at the end of August, and Sequim Bay at the start of October, so mid to end of September might be a possibility for this year. But I LIKE your off-season idea, February might be just the ticket (I assume March is now the more or less regular South Sound month). We went out twice for overnighters in February this year, once to Stuart Island and once to Sucia...both bright sunny weekends if a bit cool (ragwool sweater and Wallas definitely required after sunset). And NO competition for dock space!

We may also want to think about early June. School is still in and I don't think we have an annual gathering at that time as of yet. February also sounds good. Otter Bay has power, showers, covered picnic area and a heated pool. The only real problem I see with it is trying to get the beer across the boarder.

Fred

I can't do the early June time. Early June is the time for for the 2nd Annual C-Brat Sturgeon Festival at Warrenton, OR. You won't want to miss it!

How 'bout if we sneak it across in our bellies?

We all could meet right before going over the border and divvy up a few cases of 22 oz and everyone carry in there own. Won't be draft, but will be tastier IMHO to anything we could get in Canada.

Absolutely. Somebody pick an open date. Conover Cove, Hummingbird Pub, look out, here we come! And lots of other great spots! Pick us up at Blaine and we can divvy up the beer there!
