GreatBridge Locks

I, was out today. The Coast Guard Called on the radio about the Great Bridge Locks. The locks are closed and eta unknown at this time according to the U.S. Coast Guard. The locks are located on the I.C.W in Chesapeake Va. I do not know what the problem is. :(
 
If I remember right, that's the last lock before you enter the Chesapeake Bay. Or the first when you're headed south. It's a tidal lock, just a small lift. Either way, it's gonna stop traffic to/from the ICW. And now is a busy season headed south.

Good crabbing on the south end. We learned what a "chicken Necker" is.

As soon as you retire all goes to crap. Go back to work and fix the problem. Just kidding, under your watch I don't remember the ICW being down for this amount of time.

I did get a call on this...folks from the old job, just messing with me.
Sadly most of the parts for this lock, Deep Creek lock and Southmills lock have no spares and as something breaks, parts must be custom made. On top of that, the Corps has a very tight budget, so there is no $$$ to make spares in advance.
