We keep our boat in a slip and live four hours away so I like to lock the boat up when I leave it. Open the boat up in mid July and it's raining inside the boat! Moldy, wet, stinky
So I got two isun solar vents (ICP Solar Technologies) they were a little more expensive than the others but I liked the fact that you could switch from intake to exhaust with the flick of a switch. They shut sealing out water with just a pull and will run for 48 hours without sunlight. Each will move 1000 cubic feet of air an hour. One on the bow set for intake one over the sink set on exhaust.
Installation was easy after you get past the fact that you are cutting a 4" hole in the top and the hatch! But all went smooth and they look great! So I turn the bow fan on and half to look up into it just to se if it is on it's so quiet. Then the one over the sink... Click-click-click-click-click So after close inspection its in the motor there is no fixing it.
So I call boat us and they say send it back and we will replace it. I say... well the unit is installed on the boat and to return it would leave an open 4" hole in the roof of the boat! How about I send the inside guts back and you send me a new set of guts for the unit? Nope he says you will need to send all of it back or we will not replace it! After fighting for about a hour with three deferent people at boat us I gave up. :cry
The next day not to be beaten just yet I called ICP Solar in Montreal and spoke with Gordon Terlier...... After explaining my deal He asked for my info and said he would send a new unit right out and I could just toss the old one or keep it for parts...... I just about fell out of my chair!
We sat and talked about c-dorys for a bit I e-mailed him some photos. What a great guy and a great company. I didn't think you could get service like this anymore.
4 days later a brand new complete unit on my door step. Took 2 min to install and is perfect! This C-brat says if you need a vent buy an ICP solar!
