Last weekend we celebrated our 41st. anniversary. I had offered to take the wife down the Oregon coast. At first she said that would be nice. We were taking our daily walk and she said how about taking the Mary Ellen out on the south sound for a couple of days? Well you can imagine it didn't take long to agree to that.
We launched at Swantown Saturday about noon and were off. It was a great couple of days. I did my part and bought dinner out both nights. The weather was great and not as many boaters as you might think. We did see one other C-dory, a nice looking 16' crusier.
When we got home I was busy cleaning up the Mary Ellen before putting her back in the shop. The wife said she needed to run up town for a while. When she got back she asked me to come in and to my complete surprize she had me open up a anniversay present that just left me speechless. It was a 40'' long metal art of the Mary Ellen. A local metal artist did this in just one week. It is powder coated and now hangs on the wall above the TV. I can just sit and stare at it. I can not believe he captured the classic lines of the 22' crusier from just a picture and the line drawing from the C-dory site. I posted a picture on page 3. As you can imagine it was a great weekend. Looking for 41 more years with both the Mary Ellens.
