GPS equipment question

Has anyone used a Garmin 178C GPS chart plotter and Sounder with a built in antenna?
We have used this on our Grady White.and would like to transfer it to our dory.
The 1997 C-dory we purchased has a defunct old garmin which we can no longer purchase or find maps for NC/ the east coast (this is an old black and white screen 710? ). Know we need to purchase a new transducer. Presently there is an exterior antenna and the equipment works but its old and not the maps we need.

Probaly the transducer is an Airmar. The 178 C is a 5 year old Charter/plotter, and I am not sure how well it is supported by Garmin. The early sounders from Garmin were not as good as some others to begin with.

Basically the "good news" is that you own it, and thus it will be cheaper.
 
Sounds like the question was concerning the internal GPS Antenna on the 178 C. It will work fine in the C Dory cabin . The sounder t'ducer will work on the transom as well and are still available .
