Gasoline smell near tanks

I just bought a 2007 Cruiser 22. I can smell a faint odor of gasoline near the fuel tank area (standing in back of cockpit and or sniffing between the tanks). No odor or leaks found at vents, connections or fuel selector valve or engine connection. No evidence of a leak from bottom of tanks (no slick on bilge water). I have checked all hose connections for tightness. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check the seals on your fuel filter/water seperator. My fuel smell was a small leak at the o-ring where the filter spins on the base.

That is normal if you have the rotomolded plastic tanks . I have had them do that in cabin boats [ not C Dorys] and researched to find out they do emit some gasoline smell through the plastic. If it were a leak it would be a stronger smell and you would probably locate it easily .

Lucky Day,

Journey On had a gasoline smell in the cockpit when the wind was blowing. Finally figured out that it was coming from the tank vents. Wrapped some blue masking tape around the vents and punched a small hole to allow the tanks to breath. Seems to work.
