Garmin GMR21 problems...

Ok, My brand new 4208 came in today, as well as my GMR21 radome, had everything hooked up nicely...and then no power, I check my RJ-45 connection, wires were in order, copper shielding tape on the draw wire, not sure what is going on...The battery that it is connected to os about 20 ft away from the radome, is it possible that A - the 14 gauge wire is not supplying enough juice during startup

Battery may not be fully charged?

As mentioned the network cable is good, made sure I had the A and B connections corrected...so I am thinking maybe I am not getting the right amount of juice to get her started>>HELP!

Also, can anyone confirm the fuses rating on the inline fuse provided by Garmin for the power cable, I think it say 6 1/4 but my eyes aren't that great. Thanks.

My GMR-18 uses a 6.25 amp fuse as well. I would make sure you have at least 11.0 Volts, most of my Garmin stuff will still run with that, 12 Volts would be much better. I know when I turn on my 3210 you can hear the radar spin up and goto standby.

I am almost think at this point to get a seperate battery for my marine electronics, I have so much other stuff running...thoughts, this might be helpful?

I would Run the Electronics off of a house battery. I don't care to have the electronics feel the voltage drop when you crank the motor. A lot of devices out there will turn off when you crank the motor from the voltage drop.

Thanks for the reply guys, I am running a 25'2 Sportcraft, Mercruiser 5.7, and yes I do see a voltage drop when the motor is started...should add a battery onboard just for the electronics...probably a wise decision since I have a ton of them now..
