2006 25 Cruiser front center window slightly leaks: The rubber gasket around the front center window is shrinking at the corners as shown in the photo and I have noticed a little water leaks in when it rains (between the glass and the frame on the inside). It appears the previous owner tried to fix it with silicone glue on the inside but didn't do it right. Or is the rubber gasket shrinkage even the problem?

If it is the source of the leak ... can I just dry it out internally, open the window to a near horizontal position, then just fill those corner gaps with a quality self-leveling sealant (maybe like Black Dicor?). I also have thought maybe a product like Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure might work? Normally I would do a full repair (remove and re-bed the glass) but I am trying to start the Great Loop in a couple weeks and already have a long punch list to get through and would like to avoid this until I finish.

Dowsil 795 is a very tough sealant used for adhesion and glazzing of windows on large office builings. It is also used on the MegaYachts for their large window sealing. I became familiar with it when we removed the glass windows and put in 3/8" lexan "bullet proof" windows in our Cal 46--these overlay the standard window cutout by about 2" in all directions. I had some I got on a piece of SS Rigging. 5 years later it was still stuck there--and no problems with my "bullet proff" Lexan after 30,000 miles from near the Artic Circle to the Equator. Use the Dowsil to caulk your windows after scraping all of the previous "silicone" off the window glass, rubber, frame etc. Wear good gloves, it is hard to get off of your hands.

Ok. Thanks for the info on the Dowsil. I'll have to tackle this when I return later this year. Right now the leak is not too bad and hopefully doesn't get worse until I have time to fix it correctly.
