Friday Harbor Trip - the culmination of 1 years planning

its an amazing toy! this one was my brothers and the battery died on day 1 of our trip or I would have had MUCH MUCH more footage. I had images in my mind of having the gopro running while rowing away from the boat in jones island. lots of ideas. after playing with his all weekend (well, 1 day) I'm definitely sold on getting one.

I also recorded the beginning of the trip, hooking up the boat, pulling it out of the driveway and headed down the highway. someday I think with some editing it could make for an interesting video :)

on a side note, I haven't gone SCUBA diving in 2-3 years. this winter I figure I"m doing one of two things... refreshing my SCUBA, or taking sailing lessons. I'm really torn on the two.

You can also mount the GoPro to the brow using one of the adhesive mounts. It gives a good vantage point and sits low enough to not interfere with a dinghy on the roof:

I also used a small piece of line tied between the GoPro and my old running light fixture as a bit of extra security in case the adhesive would decide to fail.

thats EXACTLY what I want to do. what editing software did you use? that's a great clip! looks like a fantastic day on the water too.

how much distance do you think you covered in that 5 miles? I'm wondering how long the go pro was actually "on" for. we used two SD cards and a full battery and didn't get nearly as much footage as I had hoped.

Thanks! I use Cyberlink Powerdirector for video. That video is actually my entire 29nm trip condensed down to 5 minutes. I have 3 batteries and used them all....about 1hr 45min of 1080p60 video.....26gb! Next time I would drop the quality down (you lose quality when speeding it up anyway) or use time-lapsed photos and do a slide show.

Here was a video of experimenting with time-lapse slideshow. I think it would work for the boat and result in much smaller overall data size:
