Fresh water tank

I have a 2007 CD 25 with the fresh water tank mounted in the stern right up against the transom. The boat is way too stern heavy when the tank is topped off and extra fuel and gear onboard for a 3 to 4 day outing. I'm having to run with the trim tabs 3/4 of the way down or better.I was wondering if anyone has moved their tank up to the V-berth area or even if it's possible. There are no access hatches in my v-berth.

Well, on Journey On (a 2005 model) the water tank is in under the V-berth, so anything is possible.

A few thoughts.

First, the front water tank has a capacity of ~23 gal. Not sure what the aft tank holds, but make sure you're not decreasing your supply. Fresh water is a precious commodity on a cruise.

Second, the tank was put in place and the V-berth liner put over. So, you'd have to cut a hole in the V-berth floor to install a tank. Though not impossible, you should think about it. You'd also have to re-route the water line to the pump. Journey On has the water pump in the hot water cabinet. Which, by the way a good place, since it stays dry, though hard to remove.

Third, I don't know if an original front water tank is available. You'd have to contact the factory, Triton Marine, to find out. Otherwise, look at available water tanks.

Ronco Plastics makes a number of tanks which would be suitable for the 25. The early boats had the holding tank aft, where the water is on the later boats. You can always cut out an area under the V berth, and put in 1x2 strips to screw it back into. leave the old water tank in place when you want it--or maybe you can use it still with more weight forward. Running the hose to the pump, and putting in a "Y" valve is very easy and not expensive.

It would be an easy and relitatively cheap modification. Ronco B 184 is close, but may be a bit too high (do a mock up first)--the cut out might be smaller than the tank and it slipped in place... You can call. It is possible that Ronco made the original tank.
