Fresh Water pump

I am wondering if the foot pump is best for the fresh water and if anyone knows which one might be best. Which one does the factory use and where is the best source of a pump Thanks> Jim

Jim,

We bought a " Commuter" Version CD 22 which had seating for 6 commuters but no galley or water tank. In retrofitting so that we could use the CD as either a commuter with 6 seats inside or a cruiser with table, galley, Wallas, water tank and sink, etc. we evaluated water pump options. Our thinking was that with such a limited amount of water storage (20 gallons), conservation of water was a priority. I rejected a more convenient electric pump (RV hardware) and located a small foot pump (Baby Whale pump) which did a good job and really saves water because you can easily regulate water amounts precisely. This pump is commonly used on sailboats, is reliable and has readily available spare parts. We have used it on ~ 70 days out over 2 years. The 1st mate uses it the most and seems to like it. I am not sure but believe this is the pump that the factory installs in the CD 22 cruiser.

You can see it mounted in the C Eagle photo gallery under project topics.
