The more I learn about Chirp the more I think its primary purpose is now marketing. The fact that a unit can go from down imaging/scanning to Chirp with a software update, makes it a little hard to believe its worth the upcharge usually demanded. I understand the fundamental concepts but the definition is not consistent across the industry and the pervasive use of proprietary "technology" terminology keeps the smoke screen mighty thick.
