Fluid Marine Sold!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff, nice post and welcome to the pub. Glad to see you getting invloved early on. I have been thinking of a raised pilot house for a year now and with this buy out I can keep it in the family.

So next question is how are we going to run the factory party during the sbs with a two hour commute???

I second the motion before the pub, move the whole show.

Jeff , we are quick because most of these guys dont have job and those of us that do would rather be boating anyhow.

good deal, It's sad to hear C-D is getting sold again but it's good to hear that it's going to a quality company with long Northwest roots.

I would think it would be good, in an attempt to move some old stock & jump start sales, to offer a $43,000 voucher to qualified C-Brats with blue trimed 22' boats built prior to 2000 that wish to upsize

Welcome Jeff...I think you will be VERY surprised about the enthusiasm of our group, just take a look around the site. Also, please take my recommendation about an "Ask the Factory" forum seriously, take a look at the response on the Ranger tug site, it's been phenomenal! You'll have to detail someone to check it regularly and give it some care and feeding but I believe it'll pay off for you in the long run.

Again, welcome aboard, we look forward to meeting you. I've been to the SBS 3X now from the East Coast, just to visit the factory, the boat builders and all the C-Brats and I expect to continue to do so as long as I'm "kicking"!

Now dont ask for too much right away or Jeff might get scared and change his mind !

Something tells me, he'd rather be overwhelmed by us hooligans, than greeted by silence.

I think it should apply to boats built prior to 2004 but other than that, I'm all with you on this one!

I will just throw in my 2 cents on the sale. In the year 2000 I had narrowed our new boat search to either the C-dory 22' crusier or the 22' Seasport. I had gone on a sea trial in both boats. It simply came down to cost to operate and I new with the Seasport I would be concerned about fuel costs. Both boats are built very well and remind me of commercial fishing boats with the fit and finish.

I had talked many times with Mark (original C-dory owner) and Scot from the new C-dory. Both were very helpful in making my decision. I also talked several times to Jeff from Seasport. He was always helpful and answered all my questions. I still think Seasport would be a great boat, although different in operating costs. I am very hopeful that the sale to Seasport will be a step in the right direction for C-dory fans. I for one have not been a fan of Fluid Marine. I have called and e-mailed several times and got no response for my questions. I had always got great service from C-dory under the Reynolds watch. Welcome Jeff and when you have time jump in and joint the fun on the C-brats.

The Arima boats forum also uses the "Ask the Company" concept and I see great things. It really builds a following for the brand.

I think the C-Brats site has done a good job of that! :wink

Yes, and four owners later, we're still here doing that.... :crook

What about boats bought in 2004 and earlier? For some reason they called mine a 2005 model.

Jeff, the first boat I ever coveted was a SeaSport Pilothouse. Then reality hit and I bought a CD-22. I look forward to working with you on my next purchase.

With regard to models. I think one could easily separate the interior aspects from the hulls - e.g. there's no reason why a Venture couldn't be built with a decragaurd interior. However, I DO think that the 22CD and 23 Venture HULLS are largely redundant and the 25CD and 26 Venture HULLS are largely redundant. If it were me, I'd drop the 22CD and the 25CD and simply offer the 23 and 26 Ventures at different levels of trim. IMHO, the Venture hulls are superior to the CD hulls in design. They're a little bigger, have a slightly better hull entry, I like the changes in the motor well and the cleats at a 45 degree angle. In brief, the Venture hulls seem to be improved in several ways (and in ways that many of us had suggested in the past). I'd also get rid of the 29 Venture entirely as sales will be slow and that boat has a look that only a mother could love.

The reason to talk about reduction in the number of models is two-fold. First there's an efficiency to be gained by limiting the production to a smaller number of models especially when some are very similar to each other. Second, it can be confusing to the buyer if there are too many options especially if there is not a huge difference between some of the options.

As for the buyer - YIPPEE! I love SeaSport boats. I almost bought a SeaSport and if I had more $'s I would own a Sea Sport 3200 cat. I love the design of that boat and the interior fit and finish of many of the SeaSport boats is far superior to comparably sized boats. I'd love to see the SeaSport fit and finish in a C-D Tomcat and almost made a deal 2 years ago with the factory to supply a hull w/o the cabinetry so I could get a good cabinet maker to do a nicer job. I personally have never been that enamored with the decraguard in a normal CD.

I was told Fluid lost acess to cash and financing when the financial markets went to hell. So this was expected in the industry for months.
Can't think of a better product line to match up with. I would expect c dory to continue as a lighter less costly line, right next to the two lines this company makes.

Things will sort out. This line is not going away. Not with the push for fuel economy.
