Fluid Marine is a class company

In February when I was getting my 2005 25' Cruiser engines serviced at E.Q. Marine we discovered fuel in the bilge. Les kept the boat for a few more days to try to locate the leak. After a complete check E.Q. was unable to find were the fuel was leaking.
I was to say the least a little depressed and wondering were I was going next with the problem. I sent an email to Fluid Marine explaining my problem and got a prompt response from Frank Walters. He wanted me to bring the boat into the factory so they could take a look at it.
After checking all the hoses, connections and pressurizing the tank he was unable to find the leak. We talked about the issue and he decided that the only real solution to the problem was to replace the tank and all the hoses.
Two and a half weeks later he had completed the tank replacement and had also upgraded the scuppers on my boat.
On Thursday I went down to pick up the boat at the factory. I paid the more than reasonable bill and when I was hooking up the boat I found that they had placed two hats, two new raised decals and a very nice C-Dory entry mat on the boat.
Frank and Fluid went more than the extra mile for me and have earned my deep appreciation. I love my C-Dory and Fluid Marine.

That's cool Fred. About a year ago we had some gel coat work done and they took good care of us too. They put the new raised logo decals on without being asked. Our boat is there now getting some minor gel cote work done again. We are also having them buff and wax the boat. We thought we'd send some work their way.

Hey Fred, post a photo on the "new photo game" will ya!! :)

A number of years ago I worked for a RV store in the parts and service department. I remember that the manager's philosophy was that you really need to be professional, courteous, and polite all while provided excellent customer service. His prospective was that people don't actually need an RV or anthing to do with it, and they will likely shop where people are the nicest and have fair prices. If you don't, then you had better have really low prices as that is the only thing you have got going for you.

The boating industry is the same way. In these tough economic times the companies with a fair price and excellent customer support are the ones that are going to stick around. It looks like C-Dory is on the right track in doing this and it is good to see.

I have not taken my CD 22 out for over 8 months.....Can somebody make the snow go away, the rain go away, and the seas calm? Please? At least we have fish to catch up here if I can ever get to them......I never have had much luck boating in months with "Rs" anyway.

You can take your boat there for minor gel coat work? Part of the "new deal" that I disliked so much was that they were NOT doing any of that kind of work at the factory any longer. They were adamant that it had to be done at a dealership. We had to go to LUSR to get a stress fracture crack repaired that we would much rather have had the factory do. It would be great if they have changed their view on that, in these slower times for new boat sales I would think they would be happy to have the work.

Fred, it is great to know they took good care of you. What exactly did they find when they took the old tank out (interested of course since we have the same tank, as does Anna Leigh and Laurna Jo as well as a few others)

Earlier this year I sent a PM to the factory asking them to consider, during these difficult times, doing just such services. I'm no expert, but I guess there are some C-Dory owners who are deferring "moving up" and would be in the market for some upgrades to their present vessel. (I might consider a swim step so I could attach earmuffs while the boat is in the water). I also suggested a C-Dory logo internet shop where we could get clothing, hats, decals and even boat models and such. I got no response from the factory.

Fred, I obviously do not have all the details, and I do agree the Fluid Marine seems to be a very good company to do business with, but... Should not a leaking fuel tank on a 2005 boat be covered under warranty???? I was surprised to see your comment on a reasonable bill.

My "new to me" 26' ProAngler has an aluminum fuel tank under the deck just behind the cabin. The label indicating capacity is there but the numbers have been eliminated. I would really like to know the size. Any ideas?????

Also if it should develop a leak how do you get at it as there is no obvious way short of cutting out the back deck.???

My friends 1994 ProAngler has a leaky tank but it is ok if he only keepsi half full.

Thanks Larry.
The hull is the same as mine but the cabin is different. It is a walk around model that is otherwise very similar to the top right picture. I would guess that the fuel tanks are the same.
Thanks for seeding that.
Incidentally we were in Tulalip last week on our way north. We stopped at the mall with the casino on the west side of I-5.

C-Brats to the rescue once again..............Jack

Jack,
There are other scans from that same brochure in my photo album.

We live about 7 miles west of the casino up in the woods. If you ever get down this way again, give a shout, we can meet you for a visit.

I have also found the new management to be very supportive. In my case they contributed a fair amount to a repair that they technically did not have to acknowledge. Definitely a thumbs up from me.

I was thinking the same thing, unless he asked them to do some work that would not be part of a warranty coverage. The leaking fuel tank should have been under warranty.

I don't have my 2007 25' Cruiser (purchased new August 2008) manual at my disposal to review (it's in the boat) , but I thought it stated the hull was covered for 5 years, but the remainder of the equipment was covered under warranty for 1 year (except perhaps individual equipment manufacturers whose warranties may be longer based upon the equipment manufacturer e.g. hot water heaters, battery chargers, refrigerators, isolators, stoves, etc). I was surprised to hear others thinking the fuel tank is covered beyond one year and it would appear in Fred's case beyond three years. Interesting but noteworthy.

I want to clarify one point. I am not saying that Fluid Marine fixed my tank under warrenty. I did have to pay for the tank replacement. I am saying that they were very fair in the way they handled it and the cost of that replacement.
It was never determined that the tank was leaking. We were never able to identify were the fuel was coming from. It was mutually decided that to make sure the problem did not reappear was a total tank and hose replacement.

I will say that Fluid has been VERY prompt in responding to every "dumb" question I've asked while going thru the long distance boat buying and ownership processes. Even buying a used boat.

Just to echo Fluid's praises, but from a dealer perspective. They have been great to deal with, and we are extremely happy we have had the opportunity to represent the C-Dory line.

Good to hear that Fluid Marine is stepping up to the plate on repairs. I had a discussion with the administration of the previous owners of C Dory and they were covering the tanks for 5 years. This was involving the plastic tanks, of which at least one had a leak in a C dory25 and at least one in a Tom Cat 24. Consider that a leaking fuel tank is a liability issue for the company. I have no idea if this liability transfers to the new company owners. [/url]
